Breath smells like faeces (Poo)

Posted , 379 users are following.

I have this horrid poo smell from my mouth. I brush my teeth twice a day, floss, use Dentyl PH mouthwash, I have the best oral hygeine of anyone I know but I still have this smell. I am too embarrassed to even ask my flriends or family to tell me my breath stinks. I am becoming totally reclusive because of it. Id rather go to my GP and tell him ive got an STD. I know ive got it coz sometimes people look around and ask if ive farted, and I see people with babies smelling their nappies when I speak. It really is starting to badly affect my life but I just cant pluck up the courage ot go to my GP. How on earht can i ay \"DR, My breath smells like poo!\" Please, if anyone has any tips let me know.

For anyone dealing with this terrible problem try this one thing; eliminate ALL sugar from your diet. I have had success with this. This means all fruits and pretty much any processed food, pop, anything with sugar in it.

I've had terrible breath for about six years. It started as a plastic type smell and gradually got worse until it smelled like feces and dead garbage mixed together lol... I tried everything. Oil pulling, miswak, mouthwashes, all types of homemade gargles, on and on and nothing worked. Nothing. I would brush, floss, scrape my tongue with a copper tongue scrubber, miswak my teeth for nearly an hour and five minutes later my breath would be terrible. This has the potential to ruin your life.

Anyways, the only thing that has given me any relief is eliminating ALL sugar from my diet. If something has 1gram of sugar, any sugar, I do not buy it. I have also given up fruits as they were making my breath worse.

I've been eating eggs, asparagus and ground lamb burgers. I also drink warm "tea" that I make with cloves, cinnamon, ginger and apple cider vinegar. Also, sauerkraut.

In three days my breath has improved about 80% just by removing one thing completely from my diet. I can actually talk to people now, and believe me i would put my breath up against anyone's four days ago - it was that bad.

I realize everyone has different causes for this ailment. But just try eliminating all sugar - it isn't easy, and there may even be some "withdrawal" but try it and I bet your situation improves.

Awesome. I will try that. Thanks. What about gum or mints?

Someone offered me a mint the other day. I wanted to tell them I got one in my mouth I know it stink but I can't do anything about it.

Sorry to hear that! I know how embarrassing that stuff is! Personally I would go without mints and gum. Especially while eliminating sugar.

Can I ask if you have good oral hygiene?

And do you have any digestive issues??

      SOLUTION SOLUTION!!!!!

My computer keeps messing up so i don't know if you got my previous writings.

solution is to turn your open mouth up into the shower spray and let it flow forcefully into your throat;SWALLOW TWICE. I do this a couple times a week and wish i had known this in my high school days. I have a successful business which I know I would not have if I had not figured this out. Hope you find this and that it helps.

Halitophobia is real. I had it for 10 years and I thought I had the worst breath only to find that it was all in my head. Please consult with your doctor, if they say they cannot smell anything PLEASE believe them. As most of you guys know I have been on this forum for years and there's nothing I did not do trying to find a cure. I am now 100% BB free and my diagnosis was Depression from Halitophobia, My doctor put me on antipshycotics and the BB was gone. I am living my life to the fullest, confident, successful and I feel great. To those whose doctor's say they really can smell something do not give up there is a cure for you out there.

I have the same problem. It's horribly embarrassing and I've become some isolated.

I think "we" should start our own dating site, at least we wouldn't be shocked at the whole breath situation

I agree! I walk around as if it's not an issue for until I smell it myself , humidity makes it worse) & reactions from ppl. I still have not given up & follow up with docs.

does anyone here have HIATUS HERNIA??? please comment me.

Jennifer & all- we need to be each other's support!!! =) do not give up! we all deserve great things in life & do not allow others behavior change you. it's tough but we will become better ppl for it.

I do suffer from this problem too. it gets super bad when I consume nuts, beef and drink alcohol.

I read about drinking water mixed with baking soda, it also has other benefits. I'm trying the mixture every day now. I tried a lot of things too, it don't work.

I do isolate myself from people. What gets me through is outdoor activities (kayak, trail biking, hiking and fishing). I do it along, cause I feel free to breathe with no worries out in the nature. I read a lot of the comments, and seem like we suffer similar depression around people.

Maybe start a group called Breathe Camp. Meet once a year and share ideas how to beat this problem. I experienced Dr. don't wanna hear or diagnose the problem.

      Just a suggestion.

That would be fun, and funny. At least we'd be honest with each other about it.

I have been suffering from bb for 10 years and am recovering from my tonsillectomy on day 10 and I can't taste or smell my breath anymore I feel like it's gone.

i got them out coz I had tonsil stones.

my breath was smelling a few days ago but that's normal while recovering because of the scabs and bacteria.

i will update on my progress as I'm still in a bit of pain but so worth it

      Thanks Jennifer,

i am feeling so much better.on day 17, my throat only hurts when I yawn and now my breath is heaps better.

i only get the normal morning breath. My tongue is very pink now, I am wrapt, it feels like a new chapter in my life.

i haven't used any mouth wash yet because I'm not sure if I'm allowed to but I'm sure once I do that it will kill even more bacteria.

i recommend this to anyone, I also enjoyed the time off work, got to cook a few new recipes when I was feeling bette.

Bingoqueen, did you just remove the tonsils or with the adenoids too. I heard that if we still have some adenoids they can trap the stinky stones behind our nose too. Or a thornwald cyst could be behind there

      Hi Juli,

only had the tonsils out. I asked the surgeon if I need to get them out so the tonsils don't grow back and he said no.

i still get the usual morning breath but I don't have a rotten taste in my mouth.

i still have peices of scab coming off in mucus form so am worried to start gargling again yet

Good that you don't get the bad taste anymore. I hope this is the end for you.
