Breath smells like faeces (Poo)

Posted , 379 users are following.

I have this horrid poo smell from my mouth. I brush my teeth twice a day, floss, use Dentyl PH mouthwash, I have the best oral hygeine of anyone I know but I still have this smell. I am too embarrassed to even ask my flriends or family to tell me my breath stinks. I am becoming totally reclusive because of it. Id rather go to my GP and tell him ive got an STD. I know ive got it coz sometimes people look around and ask if ive farted, and I see people with babies smelling their nappies when I speak. It really is starting to badly affect my life but I just cant pluck up the courage ot go to my GP. How on earht can i ay \"DR, My breath smells like poo!\" Please, if anyone has any tips let me know.

I`m a happy go lucky guy who enjoyed a very active social life untill now...

It started a few years ago when chatting to people down the local when one of them asked me if i farted. I couldn`t smell anything and dismissed his comment. Over the last few years the comments got more frequent and I started to withdraw. Without rambling on its now got to the point that I rarley go out and when I do I`m very aprehensive and tend to hide in the background.

This condition is so embarrasing I cant mention it to anyone but has completly changed my personality

    Please help

    hi

I have had bad breath all my life, and people who have bad breath, know it is not nice, it can ruin your social life, and there is nothing worse than when you are talking to someone, and they keep putting their hand to their nose.

you can clean your teeth, floss, scrape your tongue, etc etc and twenty times a day, and your breath still stinks. scrape your tongue and wipe the residue from the scraper on the back of your hand. wait 10 seconds and smell it. not nice is it.

there is nothing you can buy in the high street that helps.

bad breath is a BACTERIAL IMBALANCE OF THE MOUTH. This imbalance can be caused by a health issue, cleaning issue, lifestyle issue, or usually a combination of all three.

basically you have more bad bacteria than good, in your mouth. and someone who has clean breath has more good than bad.

i have been using a product from a website i discovered. they sell many many mouth washes - and toothpastes. if you truly want to reduce the odour coming from your mouth, you need to have a strict regime of brushing your teeth in the morning, after lunch and before bed.

for example , after breakfast, i mix a small amount of liquid, from 2 different bottles together. these bottles contain sodium hypochlorite, and sodium hydroxide, citric acid and cetylpyridium chloride. combined, it is very strong, almost acid like, but it cleans your mouth. so with this mix, you would clean your tongue, us it as a mouth wash, floss with it, and brush your teeth with it.after i would use a gel on my tongue, then scrape it off, then i would clean my teeth with a toothpaste, then i would use a mixture to give my mouth the correct ph level, then a final mouth wash. lol. sounds a lot i know, but you would only need to do this much about twice a week, in the morning.

you need to avoid certain food types, especially during the day, for example protein or cheese as the bad bacteria in your mouth quickly breaks these foods down into smelly compounds. it is ok to eat these for dinner, but try and have just a carbohydrate lunch, and avoid coffee, and alcohol.

if you would like their website send me an email, as i dont want to advertise on this site. the website will give you lots of good information and offers you help and advice. their products are not cheap, but, they are the best, in my opinion. if you use them your breath will improve.

i will probably never check for replies on this site. but good luck and there is help out there, if you want it

Alyssa I saw your comment and emphasize. The truth is no amount of mouth wash or repetitive brushing a day will solve the problem. Once your breadth has gone that far beyond routine hygiene control you need to talk to your dentist. I used to have really horrible breadth and one of my classmates in college pulled me aside one day and said "you know, you are a smart guy, but you need to do something about your breadth" He said this to me verbatim and blatantly. I was so embarrassed and depressed. Anyway that was 6 years ago. I brush day and night and use mouth wash too but that did not solve the problem. 3 weeks ago, I went for teeth cleaning with my new problem and told her that I have bad breadth issues. Told her I could brush now and 30 minutes later my breadth will be really bad again. She did some X-rays and some tests. The tests revealed that my gums were inflamed and filled with bacteria. She asked, do you bleed sometimes when you brush? I said "Yes". She told me my teeth were healthy but my gums weren't and she was gonna perform a laser bacterial removal after my teeth cleaning. That was intended to remove the bacteria and stop the inflamed gums. It was a 2 day process. Fast forward to today, my breadth has no bad smell, the worst smell it produces is the smell of food I just ate. When I wake up in the morning I blow my breadth on my wife and ask her if she smells anything, she replies "it's just warm". All in all, since the laser removal, it's either my breadth smells like food I just ate or it produces no smell at all. When I brush and use mouthwash in the morning, I keep a fresh breadth all through the day. I feel so wonderful and alive again. Ask your dentist to perform the bacterial test and see if you would need a laser removal. The laser removal takes only 2 minutes. But the teeth cleaning takes about an hour for the upper set and another hour for the lower set. Dentists will usually do upper or lower on the first day since you will be in pain. And then you get the second one done on the second day or when we you choose. Hope this helps. Lemme know if you have any questions.

Hi, I was reading your story and I gave the same problem its so embarrassing. Please helo me I would like to know all the details and products. Thank you!

I would love the details of this website. I know that a lot of it is due to the medication I am on and lack of eating but if I don't have the confidence to go out for dinner it's a vicious circle.

A lady further down the page mentioned washing out the nasal cavity which I will do but I know mine also stems from the gut.

look forward to checking out this website you have found

      Many thanks

Look up TMAU, please I have been suffering for 30 years I know what you are going through.
    • Posted

Hi Jaime. I too suffered from this since I was a child. I'm still looking for a cure. There are lots of tips on this forum one of them might help you. Nothing has worked for me but I live in hope.

Do any of your family suffer from the condition?

    • Posted

No not that i know of all i know is that when i was younger i never listened much and i didnt take care of my mouth like i was supposed to PLEASE RESPOND BACK

ok so here is what worked for me. i went to my doctor who checked inside my belly button. he noticed that there an infection deep inside the belly button. he cleaned it out and gave my antibodics. ... walla 30 years of bad breath and now its gone. he explained that i may not even noticed the infection because it was so deep inside the belly button hole (like an inch and a half innward) he said its not uncommon for infections to devlop in that area. however, when he cleaned it out there was puss build up and a whole bunch of junk. no wonder all lf

       that terrible smelling bad breath.

    • Posted

Why did your doctor check your belly button in the first place? How is that correlate with bad breath?
    • Posted

he said in his expeirence, that when someone has good oral hygiene , (which i do) that the next easist diagonsis would be an infection in the belly button. he said it obviously can be other things but first begins by exploring the most basic causes such as an interior infection that can go unnoticed

Hi Jaime. Sorry just noticed your message. Notifications seem to be going into my spam.

I wish I had the answers all I can suggest is you go through all the suggestions on the forum. Even if you didn't have good oral hygiene when you were young (who does? I used to run my toothbrush under the tap so my parents thought I had brushed my teeth), it's not too late for good oral hygiene now. I was assuming that you looked after your teeth and gums now? That's the first thing you need to do. Teeth, gums and tongue. Diet could be another thing. There's loads of suggestions on this thread. None work for me but they might for you so don't give up.

i think you misunderstood my response. i did and still do have good oral hygiene. the bad breath was not coming from my mouth but rather an infection in my belly button. after the infection was cleared, my breath was great. !!

      Hi all,

I have a great GI NOW. is did an endoscopy and i have chronic gastritis and stomach ulcers. I am on two medications..

Please see a good GI. HE belives it is food staying too long in my stomach. he check the denounmu (can't spell-- the connection from stomach to small intestine) he did biopsys of that and that came back good.

the medications help but I do get the breath that changes odor... Depends what TIME I EAT AND WHAT I EAT.

I recently started digestive enymes but first see a GI to see what is going on inside.

I also have a hiatus hernia and paraumbilical hernia, both are small and told the odor is not from that.

see how you digest your food, talk with your GI, get complete blood test, talk w nutritionist, but having one medication to line my stomach another is to reduce my acid production.

Also, if I am on empty stomach the odor is bad

I HAD MY TONISILS REMOVED. it only made this worse because I SMELL THE ODOR.

CHECK what proteins you eat that give you certain odors.

hope this helps but this is still a work in progress with me. I am do for another endoscopy.

Hopefully you can discuss with your doc on my findings but again everyone is different. ask if this is a functioning issue or ulcers, gastritius

i;ve stood away from fruit, sugar, grains bc i couln't digest this before the medication. I am still including things day to day and making notes of what I eat and changes my breath.

do not feel alone, trust me this as still taken a toll out of me but I pray, think of God and stay positive. I have avoided friends bc I still stink up a room/place but I don't stress and just put all my energy on taking my stomach meds on time, eating on time, drinking water and see what changes my odor.

Lets talk soon, let me know what you are experiencing. smile

Good to hear Loobs. I checked deep into mine last night with a carrot that  I just happened to have lying around when I removed and it smelt something between Stilton and Roquefort.  I couldn't make my mind up which, but either way you wouldn't want to wash it down with a glass of vintage port!Today i used the Dyson with stair attachment and it is now good as new.  It may be my imagination  or wishful thinking, but I definitely seem to be getting more attention from the ladies! For anybody that doesn't have a Dyson, I am sure that other brands of vacuum cleaner will do. so he gave me a regular antibodic (not sure what its called) told me to take it for 5 days. but more important i go to him every other day and he cleans out my belly button ( i myself cannot do it as i get repulsed anytime anything goes near my belly button) after cleaning it out he puts some kind if antibodic cream (neuspor) on a gauze pad and presses in the gauze pad like an inch into my belly. i leave it there for a couple of hours. obviously i wont always be doing this .. but he did it for like 2 weeks...so far no smelly belly button and no bad breath.
    • Posted

oh i forgot to mention..it was my regular physician... he did mention that in some cases, (such as overweight people) that surgery is required as it is to hard to get to to do a thorough cleaning..
    • Posted

well actually i initially went to the doctor for a puss and dry blood in my belly button. he mentioned that this was aslo probably contributing to my bad breath. he explained that when you breath out your are breathing air out that comes all the way up from deep inside of you. if there is an infection inside then the smell comes up with it. (in some extreme rare cases g-d forbid it can also be a sign of liver disease) like i mentioned once the infection was treated and the belly button was cleaned out, the smell was gone. (still helps to brush your teeth smile !!

I suffered from the same problem since childhood. I tried everything. Every toothpaste and mouthwash sold, all kinds of doctors, even had my tonsils removed. Nothing helped.

Then I visited my ENT for a sleep problem and during a routine examination she found a nodule on my thyroid. She removed it two weeks ago. It had, apparently, been growing below the surface of my neck for YEARS. It was not visible from the outside. When the doctor removed it she said it was the size of a baseball, largest nodule she had ever seen.

My breath has been normal since she removed the nodule. IT was causing the smell.

#1 How could you breathe if it was that big? Are you exaggerating?

#2 What symptoms did you have?

      To all:

has anyone lived in a moldy place?

      diagnosed with IBS?

taken more than one course of anti-biotics?

Let's figure this out together as to finding the proper test, right doctor and solve this!!!

I'm interested in knowing the name of the antibiotic & where is the Dr located because I have been on differ antibiotics and none have helped. Please respond because I'm in my late 30s and have been having bad breath since I was at least 5 or 6. I've tried everything and nothing is helping or working

trimethylaminuria, it has thought to be rare but after reading so many comments about bad breath, it seems to me its not has rare as we think. I would like for you to google it and at first you might not think you have it beacuse its says you will smell like fish, but keep reading and it will give you a whole host of smells that will never go away. I have tried everthing but nothing helps. Please look it up I have been going through this for a long time with no clue as to what was wrong with me.

Of all of the thing i've looked at, this seems the most likely candidate, but no cure! :-(

As a veggie, already on a restricted diet, i'd be left with nothing to eat if i stuch rigidly to their list! As usual, milk makes an appearance.

I watched a documentary about a girl who had this condition in the UK. Think it was called "the girl who smells like fish". Something really bad like that. Anyway this girl was born smelling like this, comes out her pores! She eventually seen a specialist in the UK and it was a specific diet she had to go on. I think it worked. I remember thinking maybe this specialist could help us too but I wasn't convinced our condition was the same as ours was just breath. I might try find out who this guy is.

    • Posted

Mmm, i speed-read a page on the matter and hadn't spotted that there was no mention of breath - guess my mind filled in the blanks. I still think it is caused by some variation on this theme though, even if it is not exactly this.

    • Posted

It's worth some more investigation anyway. I'm going to email the consultant. Hopefully they won't want to make another documentary "the woman who smells like ****" 😂😂😂

    • Posted

okay let me know if you are able to find him. If you read about people with this condition you will see that its the same as ours, just a different smell.
