Bright red blood in urine

I am 46 years old and on many medications due to various illnesses. Last year, I was diagnosed with CKD Stage 3b. In the past 2 months, I have had bright red blood in my urine 2 separate times. I have to take a large dose of Coumadin daily due to blood clots. The bloody urine only lasted for one day each time but I'm wondering if anyone else experiences this?

The first time it happened I thought it was due to an infection. I was having bladder pressure, frequency, and flank pain. I called my PCP and she called me in some antibiotics. 2 weeks later I went to my nephrologist. I told him about it. He asked if it had ever happened before or since then and it hadn't. He did a urinalysis and it came back clear. Then less than 2 months later it happened again. It only lasted about 18 - 20 hours. I decided to wait and see if I had any other symptoms which after several days I still didn't. So, I haven't reported it to either doctor. I just wish I understood what is causing it. I plan on mentioning it to my PCP at my next regular visit. Barring any further episodes.

Hi
I expect being on Wafarin / Coumarin will sometimes cause bleeding from a vunerable site. I would only worry if it was persistent.
I am 53yrs and ckd3b too I have persistent non visible haematuria (blood in urine) I expect if i was on Coumarin it would make the bleed worse and would be visible.
Mention it to the nephrologist or your blood thinning specialist.
Do you know what the cause of your CKD is ?
They are still trying to find mine 😕

Well, my kidney function had decreased minimally due to medications until 2015. Then in June 2015, I had an automobile accident that almost killed me. After that, there was a noticeable advancement in the reduction of my kidney function. An ultrasound didn't show any damage but the 2 are clearly connected.

Hi
Well im not on any meds and not had any trauma.. except having baby at 42yrs 😂!
And they cant find anything wrong with me either, i have some calcification in left kidney everything else is good.
What thay have said is they suspect the blood is due to a condition called Thin Basement Membrane Disease (TBMD)
The only symptom being blood in urine. Im still waiting more tests.
Maybe you too have fragile lining of your kidney/s made worse by the blood thinner?
Sorry cant help more than that. ?

Found this:
"Thin basement membrane disease (TBMD) is an inherited disorder that mainly affects the glomeruli, which are tiny tufts of capillaries (small blood vessels) in the kidneys that filter wastes from the blood. It is a rare disorder that has been diagnosed in less than 1 percent of the population.
The main symptom of TBMD is blood in the urine (hematuria). Another common symptom is protein in the urine (proteinuria). In most cases, there are no other major symptoms that are observed, but people with TBMD can also have high blood pressure, less urine production and body swelling"

I hadn't heard of that. I'll have to check that out.
A baby at 42, you're a brave woman!

I definitely don't have high blood pressure. My blood pressure is at it highest 130/72. It is generally in the low 90's to upper 80's systolic and 50's to upper 40's diastolic. I need to take fluid pills for pitting edema in my legs but I can't because my blood pressure is too low. My doctors basically just say deal with it.
