Burning Bladder but not when peeing.

Hi all,

I have been on the Prostate forum for a couple of months as i have an enlarged Prostate and people there have been fantastically helpful . Last week though i developed what i thought was a UTI that i got a very severe burning where the bladder is.Got so bad had to seek medical advice and say a Doc . He tested urine but no infection! Strange thing is although the bladder feels very sore and on fire i dont seem to be getting the burning urine you would expect with a UTI ! Doc tried me on Cipro and just finishing a weeks course and no relief at all . I see Urologist in a week but i can hardly get any sleep as it is so bad and wondered if anyone had experienced this . Could it be from the Prostate? Can the Bladder be irritated with no sign of infection in urine?

Thanks so much all,

John

old post but i have cured mine after same symptoms as you. i spent 8k in copay, urologist , md etc and finally researched online and itching and burning of bladder instantly cured....its shepards purse. found at health food sore or online. mine just burned and itched and made it hard to empty bladder and recurs if i ingest guarana as found in energy drinks and tylonol. culprtit is the kidney is putting out acid and imbalanced and anything downstream can get infected. or irritated. doctors never cured me and sent me home after 30k in testing and cyscoposy and the urologist did not even talk to me but to scold me and accept bogus med testing and screening and bs lies . thus stuff insatntly makes it better until i eat or drink bad stuff like guarana or tylonol. i am outraged as to how my md was just a money grubbing bean counter that was clueless but got that 30k sent me home after he tapped out limit to my ripoff worthless blue cross bs insurance. try it and you will be amazed.

I just read your post and I’m excited to read that something does work. I am female, 60 , and I’ve struggled with the pain for years. It seems to go away for extended periods of time but will return with a vengeance. I am going to try it. Thank you for your post. I had all but given up.

hi, I have been reading this post because I am really struggling with my bladder. I am female and in the uk I am only 24 years old

I went to see my urologist about nighttime wetting after my first child, he treated me with desmopressin which seemed to work, however after my second child was born I was struggling with bladder spams and leakage during the day, he is treating this with imipramine as he thinks its an over active bladder due to stress, after a little while and my symptoms not really easing he put me on marabegon tablet. to help with bladder spasms (he doesn't really tell me a lot) I then had botox injected into the bladder which seemed to help but only lasted 4 months and after a little while still on all the above tablets still suffering with spasms and leakage I had botox injected again in December however this time I ended up in hospital for 4 days with retention, my bladder was filling very quickly and I just couldn't go in so much pain I was catheterised and ended up being sent home with it in for 7 days in hope for the bladder to relax however during this time I was still having bladder spasms and it was actually bypassing the catheter they gave me a small dose of diazepam which did help but made me sleepy. very embarrassing at 24 years of age. my consultant says I suffer with stress and that I don't want my bladder taking over my life just yet, though as explained it already is. I have been suffering badly since the last botox and even on the tablets I am back to wetting nightly again and now have this painful pinching feeling after I've finished urinating. they dipped my wee at the drs and they said I had a small bit of infection but not enough to treat. the consultant did say he can offer me a bigger operation where he can take a peice of my intestine and sew it to my bladder im assuming to strengthen/larger it? im wondering if this is the right route if anyone can offer advice id be very grateful, bare in mind my consultant has never ran any tests other than offering me the botox and tablets Im worried there's something wrong with me.

    ps I also suffer IBS

thanks for any advice in advance

Hi there, I read your post, I am sorry to see you are having so much trouble and so young.  My question to you is have you ever seen a pelvic floor physio therapist?  You mentioned your bladder became worse after having children.  You may need some support in helping to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles.   When you see one they will do an internal and check and tell you right then and there.  The medications you are given can cause exactly what happened to you that you were unable to pee.....how painful that would be.  My son was to take those meds and I refused for that very reason.  The medication helps to relax the muscles but this is what happens....you can't pee.   I would suggest 100% that you see a pelvic floor physio therapist.....and it may not even hurt to do acupuncture as well.  I was having bladder issues two years ago and I am better now....because of these two therapies.  I wish you all the best.

Hey guys. I had the burning bladder for a couple years. Its finally subsided. Thousands $$$ spent on Doctors and meds didn't be help one bit. They told me it was IC, prostatitis, said it was in my head. Doctors are fools. Diet and herbal supplements, exercise...the body will heal itself. I peed in a bottle and noticed a lot of solid sediments. I think the bladder is shedding its lining, fighting off unknown bugs or fungus. Fungus! Yes I think it was Candida. I went on a strict Candida diet. No sugar, alcohol, tobacco, no carbs, no bread, no processed food, no junk food, no caffeine. Feed your body the only medicine it needs, good food. Take all the supplements..garlic, fish oil, vitamins, UVA Ursi, saw palmetto, green tea, tons of water..TONS!, Take essential oils and PROBIOTICS, ... and colloidal silver! Yes it works! Put it straight in the hole, yes! Forget all the meds, they just want your money. Also, I finally realized that I was clenching my butthole all the time. My whole pelvis was clenched up, it took weeks to finally get it unclenched. I pushed my butthole out every time I thought about it to counter the clenching. Flexeril helped too. I'm about 95% now. I still find myself clenching, especially under stress. I was miserable, suicidal, depressed. Now I'm good. Back to normal. I hope this helps someone. You can heal yourself! The meds just cause other problems and make us sicker. Go herbal and get healthy!

    Hi all,

For the last three months had burning bladder but not when peeing. Long story short it is over active bladder, the medicine that has gotten rid of all my symptoms is OXYBUTININ , this is for over active bladder. Went to several doctors , they put me on antibiotics no help just like everyone else. Thank God someone on one of these forums posted the name of the medicine. I really appreciate that person , without that posting i would still be drinking apple cider vinegar all day. I called my doc/nurse they called in prescription ,pretty much immediate relief.

I am female and i get the burning feeling once in a great while like a few times a year. I have the feeling that  its the heavy metals in my body that is irritating my bladder when they come out. I remember 2 yrs ago my doc gave me a heavy metal test and i had to swallow some pills DMSA i think it was. It was to push out the heavy metals in my body when i peed. I remember now that i had this burning/heavy feeling in the bladder at that time. So i now think that it's the heavy metals coming out. I just started drinking Diatomacious Earth food grade as it's supposed to remove heavy metals. So far no burning. I take a teas in water in the morning. I read not to take it later as it gives one too much energy and then you can't sleep.

I had this issue of burning bladder, urine retention, uti symptoms etc. for 3 years..So many Drs, test, procedures. And I prayed about it and found my answer. Interstitial Cystitis and Food with Gluten was the culprit. Once I cut it out my diet, it all stopped. Anything acidic and gluten. Trust m guys, try it.

I have read that people are allergic to gluten becuz it's actually the Round Up Glyphosate that is sprayed on the wheat to dry it just before harvesting. So we are eating bug spray and are getting immune problems from it. Do a search on glyphosate. It is horrible stuff. Must use organic flour i guess. I used to make bread and have a lot of flour left over. Now i am afraid to use it. Once in awhile after eating eggs or hot dogs my stomach will ache for a few hours. The eggs come from chickens who are fed GMO corn and same thing with the other animals too being fed who knows what. The burning i only get a few times a year and i think it's from heavy metals leaving my body in the urine and also cause i drink very little water so it's all concentrated. I have to force myself to drink water as i don't like it. I do try juice drinks too, but i tend to eat more than drink. Not good i know.

    Hello

i am from the uk. About a year ago developed burning pain around the bladder / groin region . i would wee quite often and its carried on to this day.

Main symptoms are i go for a wee and i get the burning pain after (not during). This has happened every day for 3 or 4 months solid. Pain is felt in the region where the inside leg meats the genital area. Burning pain from the groin area to just under the belly button.

Last month, i had blood and urine tests. All clear. I had my prostate checked. All clear. Doc put me on oxybutnin but could only take for 2 weeks as had bad diarrhoea. Pain is all day now and feel it sometimes when i bend forward. Is it just a bad groin injury or bladder ?

That's so strange... try getting a cystoscopy to see if there's something going on with your bladder. Maybe try probiotics because maybe you need some good gut bacteria... if all else fails try and get a CT scan of your lower area and of your back too because of all the nerve endings in the back. Was there any kind of mentally stressful event that could have triggered this? I've had weird penile discomfort for a while that began with stress. Were you really stressed prior to all this?

    Hi John

I hope your symptoms have improved since you posted a few years ago. I have had symptoms of increased urgency and frequency since the start of 2022. My urine flow is also weak and I experience burning pain. The pain would decrease with urination but return when my bladder started to fill up again. The pain can go for a few days but flares up again during times of increased stress. I have suffered from stress and anxiety all my life. Physical stress such as running also makes the pain worse. I was a keen runner but cannot run at all now.

The pain was so bad a few weeks ago that I went to casualty. They did a few tests and sent me home. Not knowing what was wrong with me increased my anxiety and made the symptoms worse. I subsequently visited a medical practice in Ghana, West Africa during a recent trip (I work as cabin crew based in London) . They carried out a urine test, blood tests and, importantly, an ultrasound scan. The scan and tests revealed that there was nothing seriously wrong with my bladder and kidneys. My prostate was also of normal size. The doctors diagnosed overactive bladder.

This diagnosis was confirmed by a urologist in the UK, who prescribed Mirabegron to stabilise the bladder contractions. I've been on it for a couple of weeks now. It seemed to work well initially but the symptoms have returned. There is definitely a strong link between the bladder pain and stress. When significant stressors are removed, the pain and tension in my bladder eases. The pain returns when new stressors arise. Although I am conscious of the connection between bladder pain and stress/anxiety, I am unable to stop the cause and effect cycle.

It is reassuring that there is no serious illness, but the condition is ongoing and playing havoc with my mental health, not least because I am still unable to run. Running was an effective way to control my anxiety and depression. I am now constantly cycling between depression and euphoria. The depression is characterised by dark, intrusive suicidal thoughts. The euphoria kicks in when I feel strong enough to deal with it and feel hopeful about the future but doesn't last long.

I'm going to stick with the Mirabegron for a few more weeks and see if symptoms improve. I may try oxybutynin if there is no improvement. I was interested to read Jayneejays experience, particularly that oxybutynin was effective at managing flares. It's so reassuring to read the accounts on here and know that I am not alone. I'm writing this in the hope that it strikes a chord with other readers. Please share your thoughts if it does.

Good luck everyone. Thanks for reading.

    Tom
