Burning Bladder but not when peeing.

Hi all,
I have been on the Prostate forum for a couple of months as i have an enlarged Prostate and people there have been fantastically helpful . Last week though i developed what i thought was a UTI that i got a very severe burning where the bladder is.Got so bad had to seek medical advice and say a Doc . He tested urine but no infection! Strange thing is although the bladder feels very sore and on fire i dont seem to be getting the burning urine you would expect with a UTI ! Doc tried me on Cipro and just finishing a weeks course and no relief at all . I see Urologist in a week but i can hardly get any sleep as it is so bad and wondered if anyone had experienced this . Could it be from the Prostate? Can the Bladder be irritated with no sign of infection in urine?
Thanks so much all,
John

I empathize with you. I had the same symptoms like you for almost a year and all of the regular urine test were negative. Last February, I was rushed to the ER because of gross hematuria that I was unable to pass urine because of blood clots. I was on catheter for 2 weeks and my Doctor was able to rule out the cause which is TB in the bladder. He requested a urine cytology to check for TB and the pathologist were able to confirm after 3 urine specimen. I'm on treatment now but the healing process is quite slow. They said that it will take 2-4 months to feel relief.
Please consider TB test to your Dr.
Goodluck and I hope they will able to diagnose your Case.,

I am having the exact problems. Mine started back in October and I finally went to see a urologist in Feb. They reccomended physical therapy. I completed the 6 weeks twice a week recommendation and no relief. Now it's May and I saw my urologist twice since therapy ended- they did a cysto and cytology- all results came back fine. The pain is so excruciating I cannot even get out of bed sometimes. I am going to a urogynocolegist at the end of June for a second opinion. I am hoping they have some other remedies because I just cannot perform my daily functions with this! The only thing that helps a little is drinking a couple water bottles within minutes and peeing as often as possible while being hydrated. I feel I am running out of options! I will let you know what this other Doc says- hopefully something better than the last!

My mother experienced something similar for a little over 4 months. She literally tried everything from working with medical doctors and specialists, chiropractors, acupuncture.
Finally, she found another angle to try. So, amber, wondering if u also have back pain (lower back)? My mother found a chiropractor who also uses a laser as part of his practice.
Here is a basic summary of what caused her horrible burning/pressure of her bladder:
Her hip was found to be "out of place". Because of this, her lower back took a pounding which resulting in a buldging disc which caused spinal stenosis which caused some nerves along her spine to become pinched. This resulted in all sorts of inflamation in her lower back and general abdominal area.
Her treatment: a form of laser therapy (reduces inflamation, and in her case very importantly "resets" the pain cycle in the nerves that were irritated which caused the horrible burning in her bladder) The doctor told us that after a certain amount of time....even if the body is healed....these nerves will have adapted to sending pain signals..........sort of like......if her bladder was burning for 4 months....the new "norm" for the associated nerves was to continue sending pain signals. This form of laser therapy "reset" those nerve signals. After her first laster treatment....the horrible nerve pain that was in her bladder is GONE!.
There are other parts to her treatment that involve detailed chiropractic work (adjusting the hip twards it's optimal position as well as removing calcification and scar tissue)
My mother has had THREE (3) treatments and is doing MUCH better. As I mentioned the nerve pain/burning is gone. She still has some muscle pain but the inflamation is being reduced and she feels a little better after each treatment.
In closing: I helped my mother attempt to find effective treatment for her issue. Her pain was immense. I've read that more than one person actually committed suicide due to a similar nerve pain in their bladder area. My mother is a tough cookie and can handle a good amount of pain. BUT.....this issue was horrible! We went to all sorts of specialists that prescribed every pain killer under the sun. None of them worked. She had multiple tests with respect to her bladder and back. There wasn't a single medical professional who could help her. (In fact...a few of them treated her like she was an idiot and said that there was no way possible that her bladder pain could be associated with buldging discs in her back).
Finally she has found an effective treatment. A similar type of treatment has been fairly commonplace in other areas of the civilized world since the 1970's. It's not common in the USA. But it does exist.
I sincerely hope my and especially my mother's frustrating/painful/some times hopeless feeling.....journey can help at least one of you.
Good Luck! And remember........no matter what......always keep it in the back of your mind that THERE IS HOPE! NEVER GIVE UP!

Hello. I'm a female who has had a burning feeling within my pelvic area and on the external skin on and off for a while. After countless dr visits with bladder infection, yeast infection, STD and BV tests (all negative), they've just shrugged their shoulders and said they don't know.
Many forums and trials later, I've found that goat & sheeps milk cause some of the issues as well as certain toilet paper brands. Finding a brand that worked for me and only eating dairy products with cows milk has made a big difference... although I'm also getting a laporoscopy to see if I have endometriosis in a week.
My friend also has ICC and caused from long-term lyme disease, so that's also something to consider.
May be worth trying elimination diets... milk, gluten, etc until you see if one of those may be your cause.
Good luck to everyone!!

Hi there, As I read through these forums this is exactly what has been going on with me the last 5 months. I too have had so many tests and several different doctors appointments and the only thing that comes up on occasion in my urine is low count of strep b, which I am being told they do not treat unless I was pregnant or diabetic......the weird thing is I have symtoms. I have been told if I was given antibiotics it would not change my symptoms, so I have been offered a bladder muscle relaxer. I have not taken this route yet as I am trying natural remedies first. It seems I get relief for a few days to a few weeks, then it returns sometimes mild and sometimes it feels like someone has just poured acid down there. It is so discouraging, and when I think of all the financial costs I have paid out, and still not much better. I am just hoping someone on here has FINALLY come to a resolution. I tried changing the toilet papers, literally every brand and no difference, so that's out, I have even changed soap to gentle unscented. I am not convinced it is allergens, I am starting to think it is the start of perimenopause.......as I have never had this in my life even when I had a UTI or vaginal infection, this is a different sensation and extremely uncomfortable.

I spent a year trying different products, after negative results at the doctor office. I changed soaps , cleaners for the tub, toilet paper, shampoos , feminine products, to no avail. I had about 2 months of fasting, which I took tropical fruits from my diet. The day I ended the fast, I chose to eat a banana. Turns out that was it. I had been putting them in my smoothies . I didn't have them everyday, so I couldn't pin point it. Also it takes about 10-14 days to get out of my system. I have a slight latex allergy from band aids and latex gloves and at that time had no idea about latex allergy foods. It could be anything, but it's worth a try

Hello John,I realize you're a man, I'm a female. But we may have the same symptoms. I see you wrote your post a year ago. Did you have blood in your urine? Also, when you peed, you said you had no pain but burning constantly, did you feel as if you were on fire around your bladder area?
What did you find out about your problem?
Thank you,
Liz

hey
ive battled with this almost 10 years of my life of going back and forth from the obgyn doctor urologists and lots of times the emergency room because the pain would get so bad and intense that i couldn't even get out of bed they cultured munchies urine almost a million of times and yes their have been times where i did test positive for a UTI and also there were a bunch of times they had cultured my urine and there would be lots of white blood cells but no infection and they then finally performed a bladder distention and bladder
cyscopy and they found out that i had a rare disease
of
interstitial cystitis also known as
bladder pain syndrome
it's the same symptoms of a UTI without the actual infection
and is an auto immune disease i would get maybe checked for it?
i had to mine is so bad i would spend days on the toilet because the flares would get so bad i couldn't control my bladder

I have some burning now and then inside the bladder, but nothing when i pee. The other nite it happened and as i thought i had kidney stones (duh) i put a bit of acv in my drinking water and drank it over the space of an hour. The burning went away within 15 min. It might have been a coincidence so i don't know yet. I am still drinking the acv - apple cider vinegar just a tablespoon in my water with a bit stevia or honey cuz i hate plain water. And yes i drink very little water and have to force myself. I don't like water which is a terrible thing to say. Even in the summer i don't like to drink it. I read that we need one qt of water for every 50 lbs we weigh. So if we weigh 100 lbs we need two qts. I weigh 125 and i barely drink 3 cups of water a day. I also read somewhere that it could be bladder stones. I did a search on it. I am assuming the acv will dissolve them if they are small. I notice that at times when i drink very little water my urine is cloudy, but when i drink more it's clear. Oh, i read that bladder stones are caused by minerals. I drink spring water that has minerals in it. I might try some distilled for awhile now. Gotta be careful cause may take out some meds and vitamins.

Hi John, I don't know a lot about prostate but I know a lot about burning without infection. I started with burning that seemed like battery acid called the doctor gave a sample and waited three days for results that came back negative for any infection so I went to GNC and told them my woes and they prescribed cranberry + D -Mannose pills which is an herbal supplement and that day it took away the pain. I take one a day and I haven't had a problem don't know what caused it only know how to get rid of it . good luck, urs worth a try. if you don't have a GNC near you, you can get it online
