Burning Body Parts - what’s causing this?

Hi all - i have posted on here many times regarding this complaint, but i am really hoping someone has some insight - i have been plagued with this now for over a year 1/2 - the attack always comes on somewhere between 1:00 - 5:00 am & it starts out with intense burning in back & travels all over my body but primarily my chest, back, arms & front of my legs. The burning varies, sometimes intense & sometimes mild & then i get like an adrenaline surge & feel sick to my stomach, but dont throw up - it generally passes after 1 to 2 hours but leaves me completely drained - i have had hot flashes & the sweats, but this is different - is it a different kind of anxiety attack or a different kind of hot flash? - i am just beside myself - drs cant seem to tell me what it is perhaps you ladies have experienced it & know what it is - i really want it to stop - the first time it happened, i went to ER & no one could tell me what was causing it - i am just fed up!!! 7 years post meno

My ears are the first to flare up. Internal burning at night in my chest especially. I don't wear a night shirt anymore because of the heat but I don't come out in a sweat. Face on fire as well. FAN FAN FAN and a cool room helps. Nights are tough but working through it. Hair in a ponytail for hot ears. I know WEIRD.

hi Jackie, that’s not weird at all I have a spray bottle that has a little fan on the end and I put water, witch hazel and several drops of peppermint essential oil in it and it cools the hot flashes right down. The first thing I spray are my ears. I think the reason our heads get so hot is because the hot flashing is triggered by the hippocampus which is in I believe the center part of our brain. I also do not wear a night shirt as anything on my chest between my breast will instigate it. I went on HRT Friday and was able to wear pajamas, lightweight pajamas for the first time in years, but that only lasted I think Friday Saturday and Sunday all heck broke loose. I know I only gave it four days but I don’t feel like experimenting with HRT. i’ve ended up feeling like I used to feel when I got my cycle, I don’t need that. do you take black cohosh, you might find that helpful as well for the hot flashes, but you have to take it religiously. I recently spoke to a woman that said an ingredient, soy lecithin, was making her have hot flashes and it took five days to get it out of her system. It is an ingredient that is used to make things creamy I believe. It’s in almost all chocolate. I love York peppermint Patty‘s but it’s in those so now I can’t eat those anymore . Kroger does have a chocolate bar and chocolate chips you can buy that do not have this ingredient, the name is enjoy life, it’s a turquoise blue package with a big red oval spoon shape that says Enjoy Life. also as you probably know... cutting out caffeine, alcohol and sugar helps with the hot flashes tremendously 😃

Taking Black Cohos but only started it a week ago. Using spray bottle and fan idea with essential oil. Good Idea.
