Burning mouth and swollen lips???

Posted , 9 users are following.

Hi all. Going through perimenopause, many symptoms. Possibly had last period a couple of months ago.

Suddenly, new symptom: burning mouth, red and inflamed tongue, and today, woke with extremely swollen lips. Hard to talk well. Also, dry mouth has been constant for few weeks now.

Anyone had this? I've read it can be related to dropping estrogen levels. Has HRT helped anyone with this? Should I see my doc? Ugh. Thanks.

Thanks, Laura. But yeast/candida is not bacterial...

But maybe we're just more susceptible to fungus as well. I think so.

I definitely have dry mouth with it, so I think the dry mouth is what starts it off....

Ok. Guess I was confused. I do remember reading and article about we are more prone to candida as we hit menopause because the good bacteria in our stomach declines; the good bacteria that fights yeast overgrowth.

Ahh...yes, you're right! I definitely have had digestive issues as a result (probably) of bad bacteria overcrowding my gut, lately...
