Burning pain in arms, down rib cage and legs.

Hi.  Around February, I started having a lot of different types of pains.  I was told I had a gallstone and it was recommended that my gall bladder be removed.  I had that done in June.  Since then, I've still been having all the burning sensations in my arms, under my armpits, down both sides of my rib cage and sometimes in my legs.  I've also been having an almost constant headache.  Lately, I've been having some tender pain in the left side of my neck up to right below my ear, blurry visiion, a lot of pain/pressure behind my left eye, running out of breath just walking up one flight of stairs and have had a raspy voice or my voice has completely gone away a few times.  So far, I've seen my regular doctor, gastroenterologist, orthopedist and general surgeon.  None of them have been able to give me any answers, besides the gall bladder and I'm starting to think I had that removed for nothing.  Any thoughts/suggestions on what could be happening?  Also, when I exhale, I feel a weird tickling in the left side of my chest.

hi i am amazed at how similar your symptoms are i had my gaulbladder removed just before it all started too. sorry i dont have an answer yet and ive been to every specialist but i will say dont give up and dont let anyone say its stress/anxiety or mirgrain. you might have better luck than me. the burning could be neuropathy -neurology,headaches-neurology or possibly eye specialist, see an optition 1st about blurred vision and eye pain (ask to have pressure tested) voice and ear pain see ENT and ask GP for a chest X ray for breathing/chest problems. i know this gives alot of referals and work for your doctor but i found writing a letter to my GP before an apt explaining all my symptoms and asking for referals was a good idea and worked as the doctor had time to read it before seeing me and i didnt forget what to say as it was all in the letter. good luck. im still pushing and although i live in the north west i have now been refered to London neurology

Hello, Kariann and Vicky - sounds like you've been experiencing symptoms similar to mine, although I have not yet started the investigations with doctors.  I haven't had my gall bladder removed, and don't have all of the issues you list, but do occasionally get a sharp burning sensation from the bottom of my armpits to the bottom of my rib cage as well as frequent headaches in the back of my head.

The burning sensation feels as if it's between the rib cage and the skin - not beneath (inside) the rib cage.  I first felt it approx. 10 yrs ago playing softball.  I threw the ball as far as I could from the outfield, then the burning kicked in for approx. 60 seconds then slowly went away.  Every few months I would do something that would bring back a similar experience.  Yesterday I felt it on both sides at the same time for the first time - it happened when I started sprinting after having been walking for approx. 10 minutes.   I stopped sprinting, rubbed the areas while continuing to walk, then it went away and I was able to do 10 more sprints without it recurring.

I'd like to hear more about your headaches - mine are definitely centered in the back of my head, near the bottom. They seem to kick in when I either spend lots of time bending over (pruning plants) or carrying luggage using a shoulder strap.  Now I believe it even happens when I simply carry heavy items in my hand for an extended period (carrying my computer bag in my hand instead of using the shoulder strap).

Now, in the last few weeks, I seem to have a burning sensation (not sharp or sudden - more dull and lingering) in the left side of my left foot.  It runs nearly from my heel to the bone just shy of my small toe.  It comes and goes throughout the day and seems to dissipate if I focus on walking on the insides of my feet (I tend to walk more on the outsides of my feet).

I'm wondering if I have some sort of nerve issue with all these pains.   I'm 47 and am not a runner.   Look forward to hearing if you're experiencing anything similar or have found out anything.

So after a year and a half, I finally have a diagnosis.  I have Lyme Disease.  Most doctors don't know how to properly test for it, so I ended up finding a holistic chiropractor.  It took him less than three months to do what none of my other specialists could do.  Mine is not covered by insurance, but I think it's well worth the money to actually have an answer and someone that really listens to what I'm saying.

Wow - congrats on getting an answer, and Lyme Disease is actually believable, as I had a friend who had it.   Get well soon!
