Burning sensation 3 months after ankle surgery

I broke my fibula in late November after falling down a flight of stairs. I had ankle surgery and now have a plate and seven screws. I've been weight-bearing for about 3 to 4 weeks and I've been doing a lot of physical therapy. However, I still have some severe burning/stinging on the inside of my ankle, which is the opposite side of where it was broken. It's gotten worse lately, which may be due to the PT and more use? I still have a lot of swelling (which I think is normal) and I also still have a lot of tightness, particularly around the Achilles. Anyone have any thoughts?

"I think my ankle is really selfish though, all this care and  it doesn't appreciate it, just gives me constant cars"

You're right!   My ankle dominates every waking thought lol.   We're so conscious of the darn thing yes?     now understand what a friend of mine, who also broke her ankle about 18 months ago said recently.  She said something like "I actuallly forgot about my ankle for a few minutes"

My plate/ screws bite me sometimes. Goes away if I push on it. I don't know if your pain is similar...

Hi! We have had the same experience. What a nightmare!  Since you're a couple of months ahead of me (mine on April 1 - not funny) I am wondering how you are doing now?I know everyone is different. I do PT 3 times a week, an at home. Walking, without crutches for about 2 weeks. I think the pain comes mostly from the stiffness.  It's amazing to read all of these posts. It's quite an injury, huh? I fell down my stairs at home. Theey are open steps and I caught my foot between them & fell backward & down. Like a bottle opener.  Thank goodness for shock.  Plate & 9 screws.  Thanks to all who have shared their experiences. I'm pushing through it, but its so frustrating, as you know. I have many pairs of 3" heals.  One can hope.  rolleyes Barbi
