Hi,

My gynecologist (in Poland) found a cyst on my righy ovary, he asked me to do CA-125 test. I've been referred by my english GP and.... I AM WAITING! They asked to come back a week after giving a blood sample but the result is still not there.. How long did you wait? This waiting is driving me crazy - last year I was waiting because of thyroid tumor and now this cyst...

Hi samahn, not really clear whether you are in poland or UK so can only speak from UK perspective.  Generally when you have a blood test, results are back with GP within 48 - 36 hours - certainly within a week.  However, they will only get back in touch with you if you have a problem. Have you asked them to give you the results?  If not heard back from them assume it is good news - but just ring and ask if your bloods were taken a few days ago, they should tell you all is OK over the phone.  In this case, no news usually means good news.  Hope that helps.

I am in UK now, I've seen GP today, but she said results didn't come yet and I have to wait, she asked me to call next week. Just wanna know if someone else waited that long. Every blood test I've done was back to GP with good or bad result, but I never waited 2 weeks...Thanks anyway!

    Hi samantha

i waited three weeks in the end I called my consultants secretary, she said she would be unable to give me the results but would ask the consultant  to call back if they were back, which he did the next day and they were fine, same time he gave me my ct scan. I don't think they realise how much stress it causes just waiting

    hope this helps

Well, I didn't see consultant yet, I spoke to GP and of course she didn't see any problems, just told me to wait for CA results. When I told her I am in pain she said that maybe they will do the scan, but I had it already, even showed her the pictures but she didn't even look at them... Cyst has 11cm and I am really worrying...

    Hi

you don't say how old you are, I'm 50 and I think the older you are the higher the risk. I totally understand you worrying from finding mine to op was eigt weeks and I mentally tormented myself but I found this site really helpful, especially when I knew others were getting same symptoms. They may be waiting to see if it is elevated. They then can do a two week referral urgently to get you to consultant. I would just keep ringing and pestering . I know they don't normally do anything under five cms but as yours is double they should be referring you .

You know what's the thing? That I've done all the checks in Poland and polish doctor found this. I go there once a year to do routine health checks as it's way cheaper and we have very good docs. I even placed a complaint cos when I asked my GP (in England) to refer me to CA test he rudely asked me why I haven't done it in Poland if polish doctor asked me to.. Not nice when you paying tax here. I showed them ultrasound pictures but they didn't even look at them, for me it seems like they want to go all the way again, but I don't want to wait that long, especially that I know my mom and her mom had the same problem and my nan ended up with her ovaries and womb removed. Plus we have cancer history in my family. I am 30.

That is shocking if you have a family history even more important they do tests. I had a health check because I had felt unwell for weeks and was dizzy and light headed all the time. My docs did normal bloods and they came ok so they just said all was well, so booked the health screen. Doctor there found the lump so I got a private scan the same day. I then got a private appointment as I was so worried with a consultant to get his opinion (through same hospital as health screen). He said It needed to come out and that I needed blood markers and a ct scan, he faxed over to my gp requesting an urgent two week referral as he also happen to be a consultant for the nhs at my local hospital.  I made appointment to see gp she had received his faxed letter and did the two week urgent nhs referral back to him. Upon receipt he organised the blood test and scan. It still all seemed to take ages. Up to the point I had no other symptoms but then I started getting pains in my ribs and side and felt bloated and a tight sensation along with back ache.  This is all a scary process as you don't know what is happening. Looking back I have been lucky some women wait longer, but I think that getting my own scan and paying for a  private consultation helped as he then performed my operation. Could not have the operation privately as I don't have health insurance and it is a fortune.  Is there more than one doctor at your surgery? Could you get another opinion? I would definitely go back and stress your worries and concerns especially with your family history. It does make you feel better once they start doing the scans etc and you get an op date as at least you know you are closer to it being dealt with. Wishing you all the best please let me know how you get on

I paid around £200 in total and with this I had gynecologist, endocrinologis, complete blood test and urine test, dietician and dentist (with fillings). So now you know why I prefer to go Poland and do everything in one go. Everything took me 4 days! Plus flight tickets £120.

Wow that cheap, I,paid 60 for transvaginal scan which I thought was good as the hospital that did the screen charge 180 and the consultant was 180, but was glad I did it as it speeded things up. Thing is if you change doctors now it could slow things down even more.

I am waiting for this CA first and when they decide what to do I will make a decision, just fed up with them.

Meant to say though that these are more common than you think and many turn out to be benign, and you are young which is positive. Keep your chin up

      Thank you!

Yep, I've seen 2 doctors, I think I will change the surgery, cos it's not a first time I have problem with them.

I will call them tomorrow, maybe results will be there, I will keep updating what is going on.

The CA125 test results take a few weeks to come back. I got my blood test results within three days but it was another two weeks before I was told about my CA125 results. My GP did pre warn me that it would take '2-3 weeks'.

They were raised but ovarian cysts can cause this elevation so I'm trying not to worry too much. I was rushed through for a CT scan though and told if there was any cause for concern I'd be taken straight in but thankfully the CT scan was ok so I'm scheduled in for surgery on the 7th July.

      Good luck!

You know, I'm tired cos I had same story last year but with tumor on my thyroid, now ovaries. I called private surgery and they said results are next day, so you can see it's NHS slowing down. I know there are people with worse problems, wish everyone get a proper and fast treatment.
