Can anyone advise me on how to put dermovate cream inside the back passage?

Having a particularly agonising week, as I seem to have sores inside as well as outside the anal area. I am using dermovate externally, but this isn't helping and I am starting to dread waking up in the morning and knowing that I have to go through another extremely painful episode in the toilet! I vaguely remember someone once mentioning that they put their cream inside, so if anyone could help me, I would be extremely grateful. I have just been through a rough time in front, which seems to b e calming down and now it has started in the back. Is there anyone else out there who has the two?

I used to have the same problem and started taking 50 mg of zinc a day in tablet form and all of th einternal tears healed up and i very rarely have external tears anymore, if i do they usually heal up by the next day. Definitely worth a try, its been my saviour and i stumbles across it by accident. I used to not be able to sit after passing a bowel movement for about 7 hours cuz it was so sore. Please give it a go and remember to have a bowl of bran cereal and drink plently of water. Best of luck.

Thank you for the advice about zinc in tablet form, which I will try to get hold of. I am drinking vast amounts of water at present and this is helping. Can't say water is my favourite drink, a bit tasteless in my view. Glad things are working for you. How did you hear about zinc and do you get it on prescription? Thanks again and keep well!

Do you use vitamin e oil as a moisturiser? Do you think we get fissures because the skin has thinned, due to dermovate? This is my constant worry. I am always being told not to use it unless it is necessary, but rarely a day goes by when it is not necessary. I have to force myself not to use it for a couple of days, just to give my skin a break, but then I start itching. What a life! I get really frightened at the idea that I might suddenly have a stroke and no-one really knows much about LS and I wouldn't get washed properly. Someone used the word "pristine" and it has stayed in my mind. We really have to keep "pristine" all the time!
Better go and do some housework... bye for now!

Have you had a biopsy to confirm LS? I think the thing with LS to remember is that even when you have been diagnosed, and use the steroid cream, the skin that was thinned out stays thinned out and you must try to rebuild it by using estrogen and testosterone creams and definitely by moisturizering down there to help give back some elasticity and stretch. If you cant get your hands on estrogen and testosterone creams, definitely keep the area well moisturised. You want to be in less pain as possible! And yes you're right, keeping the area pristine is so important especially with open fissures. Ok so if you're on 70mg per tablet, then leave it at that for now and if you want to increase it, maybe take one and half tablets per day but I wouldn't go higher than 100mg because the higher does of zinc you take, the less copper your body will absorb and that can lead to you feeling sick etc. To counteract this, you could get a good multivitamin drink with copper in it, even if it only has 2.5mg of copper, that's better than nothing. It can be a slow process healing fissures, especially if there is an underlying skin condition so defintiely get your hands on some high potency pure vitamin e oil to try speed thing up, and start rubbing in to the effected skin. Deep fissures can take anywhere from6 weeks to 3 months to heal because before this time, they can very easily rip open as we both know im sure!
I've never actually used steroid cream for mine, as when I went to get the biopsy, I changed my mind because the doctor would only take it from the entrance to the vagina and not around the anus where it used to tear. And I sure as well didn't want any extra tears around my vagina that might not heal properly so I decided against it. But from my research steroid creams seems to be ok to use for LS, intensive at the start from diagnosis for a couple of months, like twice per day, then decrease the amount you use after a couple of months, to once a day, then three times a week or whatever low dose suits you. How often have you been using it?
Where about are you living in the world? Have you even heard of stem cell therapy for LS? It is new but there are published scientific journals showing it be an effective treatment, its available in Italy and California, It does seem to have amazing results. If it hurts the next time I have sex, I am highly considering going over to Italy to have it done. Iv been talking to the doctor who does it and he is such a nice man.

I am very interested in the stem cell therapy for LS you were mentioning. My husband is working in Italy at present and I go over there to join him every so often. Do you know where in Italy? I live in the UK, where do you live? You sound very knowledgeable. How long have you had LS?
The fissure, or fissures more likely, is/are very painful right now. I just have to put up with it, although I dread going to the loo!

Comfrey oil is excellent for mucus membrane and soft tissue areas and it helps to build tissue not thin it out like cortisone etc. I had nasty fisure which healed in a week after being a problem for three months.
The oil is really cheap from a well know Heath shop and also good for general skin hydration without being too oily.
Collagen tablets are also good to help repair tissue but is more expensive

What is the well known Health Shop and where do you come from?
How did you find out about these products? So many questions, you are probably muttering to yourself and I apologise.
Thanks again and please keep in touch, as it is always nice to know there is someone else who understands the LS and LP dilemma
Keep healthy!

I only ever bath or shower using CETRABEN moisturiser used as an emollient. I stick to FAIRY washing powder for my clothes.
After I have opened my bowels I use baby wipes (rinsed under the tap first, don't want any of those chemicals near me!!!). Then apply CETRABEN moisturiser. This works for me so hope this could help you.

I hope the fairy washing powder/soap is working well for you??? And you managed to purchase some CETREBEN moisturiser. Yes I can still use fabric softener on my clothes, luckily that seems to be ok.
I may try some comfrey oil myself although I'm rather hesitant as my Doctor has said most over the counter products contain extra additives and perfumes so I'm rather unsure.
Been off the steroids for almost a month now and I actually feel well again (had colonoscopy last week but more on that when the biopsy reports come in)....
Keep well x
