Can Neti bottle/pot make things much worse?

I know this sounds weird but my chronic sinusitis has me completely bedridden and has been for almost 2 years now and I haven't been able to work etc. anyway, my last CT scan showed massive inflammation and infection on the left side of my head primarily in the maxillary sinus.

It seems since I've been using the Neti bottle every day that I've gotten so much worse and consequentially my fatigue and weakness has been absolutely debilitating. My question is, has anybody ever heard of the Neti bottle or Neti pot making their sinus infection worse?? Thanks for reading.

Hi I'm not sure if you read most post but yours is very interesting. It's as though you've put this post up for me ! For nearly a year I've had pressure in the left side of my head, sometimes right. I have dull pains in my cheek and gums especially at night when trying to sleep. It seems to radiate from in front of my ear through the cheek to the gums. My ears seem to heavy for my face and I have tingling or itchy skin feeling in my head. Watery nose and overall not well being. I have my ct scan booked for a few weeks. I tried the neti pot and it seemsed to get in my ears and making the crunchy sound worse. Doctor has told me to use nedi rinse which is similar to clean it out. Worse I've ever suffered with my sinus ever.

Hi sorry to hear you feel like this. My ENT didn't think fatigue and body aches were not related to chronic sinusitis. My naturopath said of course it is. !! In regards to the Neti pot i personally us Neilmed sinus rinse in the small 240ml bottle and as long as you use purified water then it should help not make it worse .

do you wash your neti pot each time you use it? Use distilled or boiled water? Cleanliness is very important? Dena

I'm so sorry to hear about your suffering . Drs don't seem to know enough about sinus issues. What do they think is causing the inflammation ? Oddly, my catscan showed nothing yet I was sick for 5 years with chronic sinus infections. Once I used the anti fungal spray, the green slime came out and I haven't been sick , although I stil have horrible drip and I think my sinuses are damaged for life. Were you exposed to a wet moldy home or workplace ? The mayo clinic found that 90% of sinus issues are caused by fungal infections . Could that be it ? Neti pots are hard to use and the water gets into the ears. You can use Neilmed sinus irrigator with distilled water o my and a saline packet. It's like a water pick and doesn't go near the ears. Cleans out the sinuses.

Follow up : Must use distilled water only, never tap water . Makes infections work since it's not purified.

Compounded Amphotericin B nasal spray. Made at a compounding pharmacy. Need a prescription. Doctors are not on board with it but I insisted on trying it because j lived in a wet moldy house for 2 years, and nothing else I tried - and I tried everything - worked. Not only that, all the antibiotics I took for these sinus infections make fungal infections worse !! Have you been exposed to a at moldy house ? Like I said , I have lingering issues from this whole mold exposure ordeal. Like a constant post nasal drip . And who knows the effects the antibiotics had on my gut, but I can try to repair those things. I haven't had a sinus infection since the green slime came out.. 5 months.

Oh wow, is that the same as Beg

Spray? I've just been reading about that after you mention this. Yes I believe I've had mold exposure.

It's what popped up when I went googling for anti fungal nasal sprays.

Google it and let me know what you think.

It looks like BEG spray has an antibiotic in it, and EDTA, which kills biofilm so, which hide the infection.

The amphotericin b kills the biofilm a that may be there protecting the infection, and the fungus.

I used the amp b and the first 3 days, all the slime came out . I was shocked because I've had catscans but apparently it wasn't picked up on the scan. I went to many Drs in 5 years and not one recommended the amp b spray and it worked for me !!What are your Drs saying is the cause of the inflammation ?

Wish after 2 surgeries my ENT tried thre antibiotics as I might. Actually be better know but always had the mind set and stubborn old school that antibiotics had to be taken orally via the blood stream to a word better . He did say to me that I had a biofilm !' I have chronic rhinosinustis with fungus which was cleared up through endoscopic surgery the first time then 6 months later another surgery as diseased tissue retuned .

What is diseased tissue ? From the fungal infection ?They can see it on a catscan ?

That's what the ENT called it mostly likely infected mucus that he cleaned out in the operation I had
