can prostatitis be cured with medication

I have experienced prostate problems for many years. I've tried all prescriptions but no effect so far.  can chronic prostatitis be cured by self-drainage or with medication?

Would love to know the answer as I just can't get rid of it and just waiting to see if a new Professor I am going to see has some answers as life is miserable with it with no end in site.

Me too, Dave !! I did find something that helps a little bit. It's called Cefdinir. It's an antibiotic and it's prescription. It's like Proscar- reduces symptoms a little bit.

      Dave,

What does your Prostatitis feel like? Maybe if we compared each others symptoms we could try to find an answer. I'm wondering if the surgeon who did the Turp could have done anything wrong 6 years ago. Every Dr. that Iv'e been to says that can't be the case. I feel like there is something wrong in my perrenial area. I can't describe it, it just doesn't feel right.

Be careful of Cystoscopy. They say you can pick up more germs and infections having those instruments shoved up you.

         I'll be thinking about you,

Steve, Some days are worse than others but I have not been too bad with pain for a few weeks. I still have infections but Dr has stopped Antibiotics so what have I to lose and this is one of the top men in Scotland specialising in this problem, so hope to learn a lot and maybe be cured, so I have to think positive. Think if my Cancer was worse then that would have been an easier scene to treat.

      Dave,

Are your symptoms like mine? Burning or discomfort in the area between your rectum and testacles. Sorry for being so blunt.I would just like to know if your experiencing the same thing as I am. Let me know how it goes with the Dr. in Scotland.

Steve, Directly between my penis and rectum and down to my testacles is aching worse when sitting or lying in bed. ( No sleep last night, so should be a good night tonight ).Normally I can't touch my testacles lightly and they ache a lot. Also have a problem every time I shower and the water touches in that area I itch like mad which may partly be due to the Thrush I cannot get rid of.

Yes, Dave It's almost exactly like mine. It's chronic prostatitis. I think you got it from the surgical instruments when you had your Turp. I pretty know all about this from what I have been reserching over the years. I would stay away from the cystoscopies right now because thoses instruments could establish more bacteria into the part thats hurting right now and make your symptoms worse. My dr. has put me on a prescription that seems to be attacking the bacteria. It's called Cefdinir. You might want to check up on it. It's here in the United States. I don't know whether they have it over in Great Britain or not. You pretty much have to fight this on your own because most of the Drs. today are baffled and completely out in the dark on this condition. Let me know what the Dr. in Scotland says. If he's any good maybe I will come over and see him. I care, Dave

Steve, It is this Professor that wants me to have the Cystoscopy and he is the expert on Prostatitis so think I will have to go with it, but I will be raising concerns re instruments and infections based on your comments.
