Can anyone tell me if they suffer hip, buttock, lower back and abdomen pain with diverticulitis

All these pains are really worrying me, I'm going into my sixth week now, was told threes years ago that I have diverticulitis but I don't remember pain this severe, night time is the worst, I have to get up and have a bm at least twice a night, doctor sending me for mri this week, don't know why as I thought that would only show up bone problems, Tks for any help in advance

I have back pain and occasional hip pain. I was diagnosed 4 years ago and was like you and didn't receive any information. I've had 2 attacks, one in March and another in April about 5 weeks apart and on antibiotics both times for 10 days, 2 different ones and they made me sick too. I'm now 5 week out from my last attack and still on bland food. I've been very depressed and feel like no one other than this group understands. I have an appointment scheduled with GI doctor but they couldn't get me in for 6 weeks!! I hope to get some answers then, maybe he'll do another colonoscopy.  I keep thinking I'm doing better and then I'm reminded by pain on left side or stomach hurting. I feel like I'm never going to be normal again.

I hope that anyone in this forum that's has healed will still post to give us some hope of recovery.

      Hi Linda

I know exactly how you feel, sometimes you think because you maybe get a pain free day that it's finally going away but then it's back with pain somewhere, like you I'm waiting for another colonoscopy and dreading the result, hard enough to go tru it, I wish to god there was no such thing as diverticulitis, there's absolutely no quality of life with it, I wish you well with your next colonoscopy, please let us know the outcome, we can only all try help each other tru this awful disease

    Hi Kate

I had terrible back pain with groin and upper thigh pain with my last flare.

Did they do a CTs an to rule out diverticulitis?

      Hi Kate,

Was your Ct clear, how long did your flare up last?

      Hi Kate

My Dr sends me to the ER each time. I had 3 this year a month apart.  Each time showed diverticulitis. I had been on Cipro and Flagyl for 10 days, stop, and pain would return 5-10 later back to the ER and another CT. The flare lasted from Dec until March ! I had colon resection April 9 th. So glad I did

Kate, I had a Colonoscopy which identified diverticular disease a couple of years ago. I was told I have quite a few pockets, and narrowing of the bowel, but that was it. No advise on how to manage things, or what to expect. After joining this site, I asked the Dr for some Laxido which has helped with going to the toilet, but pain, bloating, and urinary problems there most of the time.

      Hi Cara,

So have you been suffering the whole time since your colonoscopy? or does it come and go, as I said I've been fine since my last colonoscopy in 2015, but suffering a lot for past five weeks.

Hi, I wouldnt say I have had any major pain at all, but most days I get uncomfortable bloating, and tender tum. I do get lower back pain, pain in my left and right side, and a heaviness in my pelvic area at least once a week. I suffer more with constipation, and rarely have diahorrea
