Hi Clare, I just saw my doctor today who said I’m not perimeno, even though I’m 53 and my periods are all over the place, even skipped three months and currently in a two week long period after only a week off.

So just because they say your labs are normal, doesn’t mean you aren’t peri. It depends on when they are drawing your blood as your hormones go up and down.

It sounds like you are estrogen dominant  if you are getting migraines. Maybe try some progesterone to balance?

Also, when you are hormonal, be careful not to add in extra triggers. I hear you need two triggers for a migraine. So PMS is one, then it could be things like red wine, cheddar cheese, chocolate, caffeine, avocado, peanuts, etc.. as your second trigger. Try to cut this stuff out when you know the migraines are likely.

Hi Clare, if your in menopause I would suggest HRT. If not I would ask about birth control pills.  Think you are experiencing hormones changes, whether it’s menapause or not. You need some some hormone changes. Go to a menapause specialist even if your not in menopause yet. Hope you keep looking!

Hi Clare I too have been suffering terrible prolonged migraines for the last few years .

My doctor prescribed Sumatriptan which works very well if I take it at the onset of a migraine and usually I feel fine after a couple of hours .

I feel my migraines are hormone related,I do t take any HRT I’m trying to get through this without and not sure that would help me

    Hope you feel better soon

Have you tried OTC progesterone cream? or Naturogest Progestin Tablets? My friend had similar issue and these helped.

Hi Clare, stuff your Dr you need to go and see an endocrine consultant, which you are legally entitled to do, and explain your symptoms to them and not only will you get a better bedside manner, but a diagnosis as to what is happening to you. Sometimes only the best will do! XXX
