Can't cope with this forum any more

Posted , 16 users are following.

Lest anyone think I've been ignoring them, no I haven't. I just don't have time to manage the notifications list any more with this new format. I even had problems figuring out how to post to this forum, used to be automatic! Now you have to look for your community first.... I check in daily and if there's anything on the top page addressed to me I will answer, but if your reply has slipped to the second page I won't see it. Private messages I will see. 😃 Maybe after I've moved and everything is settled I'll take a few days to sort through everything again. In the meantime, hope everyone gets as well as they possibly can. Cheers!

    Thanks Anhaga,

Sorry you're finding this such a pain. I rely on email notifications so haven't found it too tricky. Punctuation and all those capital letters are the things that are driving me mad. So sloppy. It just seems that it wasn't broken and didn't need 'fixing' or at least not like this!

They do seem to be messing around in this forum, why? Everything was simple, easy to use/understand! Grrrrr!

Come on gals and lads, its a challenge , dont give up ....this forum is still up and running...lots to learn ...

      no pain, no gain...;-)

I have to say it seems better already - some things have been sorted out, links are working straight away now. I understand they were working on it last week - hopefully with effect...

I, too, find it has improved recently, Eileen, though I'm still not sure why they changed it in the first place and upset so many. I also rely on email notifications and now that I am back in the loop I am finding it much easier. Emojis still not working in a straightforward manner and I can't remember how to do them the long way.

      Betty dear

getting help and advise from peeps like EILEEN is a huge gain ..

sorry you feel so bad, take care ..

Think of a colon for eyes, brackets for mouth - colon, close bracket looks like a smile. Use a semicolon to wink...

No, I don't feel bad exactly just indignant at the time I have to spend making sure I haven't missed anything. If we can just have back the facility that allows us to mark as read individually I'll stop moaning. Oh, yes, and the long promised edit button.

I've been benefitting from Eileen's input as long as anyone and I certainly appreciate it. So, I repeat, "What gains?" Tell me one useful thing that we have now that we lacked in the past.

Thank you, Eileen. That's a good way of remembering it.

I do not think a single thing has been improved for me on this forum. I do not like the white, the green was easier on the eyes. I do not like that we lost our own special cute animated emoticons. I do not like that the actual use of the forum is more difficult. For example it took me two tries to post this because I didn't know that you now have to find your community in the long list of all the communities. As I belong to two or three communities I would have thought a simple list of my two or three to choose from would be adequate. It is on Healthunlocked, and before now on Patient I think you were just given an option to change the community you were posting to if you wanted to. So, okay, that's not a big deal, but it was really annoying to me. I had to type my post twice and waste time looking for the community.

Actually there is one improvement, which is a policy improvement, which is to allow more things to be posted without moderation.

BETTY, I'm sorry that i seem to have upset you, that definitely wasn't my attention...

I'm nearly 76 years old/young ...so put it down to an age thingie 😉

Over the past ten years i have had my fair share of pain..

5 years of caring for my late husband, who passed away 6 years ago from bowel and bladder cancer ..I was his only carer, believe me, struggling to keep things together for his sake was not an easy task, especially coping with his two stoma's and frequent accidents...

at that time i was coping with my own health, ( but for the moment I'll put that aside )

My own personal pain, is realizing that seeing others suffering with a terminal illness makes me put things into perspective, thats my gain ..

i have PMR, pretty severely i would say, , but i know that i will get better..Its a hard road to travel down, but there is an end ...if i lose hope then i may as well raise my arms in the air and give up ...

My 17 year old grand daughter has diabetes 1 and from the age of 5 years she was injecting herself , together with the finger pricking blood tests three or four times a day ..Todays the treatment is much easier

This little girl didnt give up ... she completed the

      Duke of Edinburghs ward scheme..

Applied to four top Universities for Medicine .

Her gain, was living life on a challenge, through all her pain ...

sorry to be standing on my soap box, but knowing that we will eventually get a handle on our PMR gives us hope ...don't give up..thats our gain ..

Apart from PMR, I'm in remission for FIBRO SARCOMA ...still have six monthly trips to the Oncologist ...I will fight that too...

LYNDA, I'm sure you will read this post, my heartfelt condolences to you and your fellow AMERICANS on the tragedy of those poor people who have lost their life . God Rest their souls...

      Di

thank you rds....yes, I did read this post (LOL).

things are pretty grim here right now, so many lives lost, so many folks STILL unaccounted for (in excess of 100k)....and 10's of thousands structure burned to the ground....breakout of noro virus....on, and on, and ON!!

But it Really sounds like you've had MORE than your fair share of troubles as well. For that, my heart goes out to you.

it's so Very true, we've ALL got our stories!

all we can do is to "keep on keepin' on!".....and to be KIND to one another!

      Hugs to you!!

I really can't see anything in Betty's response that suggests she is upset. It was a comment I would probably have made too. These changes have generally been change for the sake of change rather than anything that has done anything to improve our "experience" - to use the in-word for doing anything these days.

You don't have to "find your community from a list" - if you click the New Discussion box on this page you get the posting page that lists where it is to be posted saying, at the bottom, Group: Polymyalgia and GCA - with another box to click if you want to change it. You are by default in this forum - or which ever forum you are at from the notification. You also have the short list of the groups you belong to at the bottom of your profile page - with a view all arrow if you want to see the entire list of ones you don't belong to.

They are to reinstate emoticons - as I said the other day though, seems to take a lot longer to sort out the mess than it did to make it!!!!

Yes, I agree the green was far nicer - but that is from over 15 months ago now! That just isn't going to go into reverse - it is all part of a "corporate identity" reskin. So the lord only knows how the patients in the UK who have to use this to access their GP practice stuff are getting on!!!

You didn't upset me! There are enough real tragedies to be upset about and I was just annoyed with the everlasting need the developers seem to have to change things that were doing just fine.

I'm ten years older than you and I'm grateful for the life I've had., Hope the next eighty six years are as good for everyone as the past have been for me.

When I tried that I was sent to a list of potential communities. I selected my community then found that my message was gone. So I went to the community first and tried again, obviously successfully. As you know from my history I have never had any trouble making a new post before! Maybe it was a momentary glitch.
