Can't cope with this forum any more

Posted , 16 users are following.

Lest anyone think I've been ignoring them, no I haven't. I just don't have time to manage the notifications list any more with this new format. I even had problems figuring out how to post to this forum, used to be automatic! Now you have to look for your community first.... I check in daily and if there's anything on the top page addressed to me I will answer, but if your reply has slipped to the second page I won't see it. Private messages I will see. 😃 Maybe after I've moved and everything is settled I'll take a few days to sort through everything again. In the meantime, hope everyone gets as well as they possibly can. Cheers!

please check back in Anhaga once you get settled!

I've been sensing your frustration lately and completely understand why!

my notifications are "iffy" as well, and since I've been so consumed with California wildfires as of late (and the awful effects of the HORRIBLE air quality and the toll it's taking on me), I too, don't have the patience to mess with the glitches right now!

too bad as I could use this forum right now!

I will still check in, don't worry. But I absolutely cannot cope with the way this forum is set up now.

I've spent many hours this weekend painting. Now the unit which seemed a bit like a cave to me is bright and sunshiny and you feel the people who live there live by the sea, as indeed we do!

Unfortunately when they opened up the walls of the bathroom they discovered a leak originating from a unit above us and until that's repaired - no bathroom! This leak was discovered several weeks ago and NOTHING has been done to fix it. Our contractor is getting antsy about this issue because it's holding him up too. So it will be a while before we can actually move in. We had hoped to have our son stay with us in a renovated condo while wiring is upgraded in the house, now all three of us will have to live in the house while the rewiring takes place.

      Still, we have a home.

Oh, and the painting and PMR? Yes, I feel it. But so far a night in a warm bed seems to loosen up all those tight muscles. And my sons have been helping so it's been kind of fun.

Oh my Anhaga! moving can be such a PAIN!!

it sounds like this is a condo??

are you renovating it so your son can live there too?

I'm sure it will all come together soon and you'll have a lovely new home. Lucky you!

about 7yrs back, due to the fact a house my daughter and I were renting at the time, the owner of the house got foreclosed on and "skipped" town!!

We had to move out in 48hrs....something we were completely unprepared for ( we had just made our rent payment!)....this started a 6mo period of us being homeless and living out of my. SUV....2 adults and 2 dogs!!

made me REALLY appreciate having a bathroom and running water....something I'd always taken for granted till then!!

Anyway, my point is, we've all got our stories and hopefully can learn from one another!

take care and good luck with your move. just think, a new, fresh place for Christmas!!

Hi Lynda. Nope, just hubby and me. Our son has bought our house so we won't be homeless. But we will be sleeping on a mattress on the floor starting Friday. And he is having the wiring in the house upgraded starting next Monday so that will be interesting.... Because the problem is we don'thave a bathroom and running water in the condo at the moment. Nor even a kitchen sink. Don't know why the delay on the kitchen sink, suspect contractor didn't order it a timely fashion and now we have to wait for new stock. But the bathroom can't be finished until a leak coming from a unit above us is fixed - this is why we were told to open up the walls, never just cover over a la bathfitter because you never know what's going on behind the walls! To top it off there was a fire in a Kohler factory so our fixtures are now back ordered for several more weeks. Sigh.

Holy, moly Anhaga! it never rains, it POURS!

I guess you could kinda pretend you are Camping (certainly not "Glamping", without a bathroom) 😋

I'm a bit hesitant to write about anything pmr unrelated right now as "someone" who finds me annoying has taken it upon herself to report me to Alan!

      very sad!

I thought there were more important things to concern ourselves with!

but then again, I've been wrong before....as for you dear Anhaga, please take care and take easy!😁

We will indeed be camping. I feel so bad for my son but also so grateful that he isn't just telling us to move into a hotel for the duration!

LOL....as expensive it would be, there's certainly something to be said about 24hr room service!!

but alas, I certainly couldn't afford a hotel.....

I was joking, but wished it were possible, when I told everyone at the beginning of this adventure that I'd like to go on a cruise for three months and return home to find everything had been done, to my liking.

As it is I spent about twelve hours yesterday packing random objects and dealing with an accumulation of papers which needed sorting, with a couple of short breaks. This morning I could hardly move. I hobbled up to the drugstore to get my pred refill but there is something wrong, probably with my back, and my hip hurts so much sometimes, especially going up hills and up stairs, I can hardly walk. Sent hubby out for more small cardboard boxes from the liquor store and today will be spent clearing out drawers and the final stage of packing up all the stuff which has to leave the house before my son's stuff comes in. Friday afternoon for us, Saturday for him. On Monday the rewiring of the house is to start and I was so hoping he could move into our new place while that was going on but as it is we'll all be camping. It's a good thing we get on well. 😃

dear Anhaga....I was joking as well!😁. although 24hr room service is NOTHING to joke about!!

Oh my....you sound a bit "crazed" with all the work you're doin'....I know things have to be done, but please take it easy on yourself!

a bad back can be terrible....one can barely move.

go slow as you can and take lots of breaks!

please keep me posted on how you're doing. I'll be thinking of you and sending you hugs!

This is the process I go thru to read this forum...

I have bookmarked one of my own posts. That is how I find this forum.

1, On that page there is a "Notifications" label in the upper right corner if there are any new posts on this forum.

    2. I click on "Notification" label and new page shows up with all new posts marked with little red asterisk

    3. Click on any post - read it and then use the page back arrow to get to the notification page.

    4. Repeat the process until all notifications are read.

My email notification go to "junk" folder on purpose, there are too many of them ...

and the last note, hope your move goes well, no need to worry about this forum... We will be here when you are all settled.

Yes, that's what I do and if there are several on the same thread I go first to the most recent and scroll back to the earliest and keep my fingers crossed that I'm not missing anything. But what a pain the back arrow procedure is.

Happy moving day from me, too, Anhaga.

I have no problem seeing the list of notifications. I deliberately do not get email notifications because they fill up my inbox and I prefer to use the link to the list on the page.

This post elicited a bunch of replies. Not so long ago I could have read through the whole post, all the replies, gone to the list of notifications and one by one quickly marked as read all the replies to this post. I do not have time to open every single reply separately.

Even this wouldn't be so bad if you could scroll down to the following pages but I can't do that unless I've marked everything as "read", whether I have read every post or not.

agree with you on inability to mark posts are "read". I also tend to read the whole thread and see all relevant responses and it would be nice to check them of without having to open each one of them individually. I asked in one of my previous posts for that feature and suggested that it could be as simple as any email application that lets you check off the boxes for each email ( or in our case post) individually and then manipulate them as a group ( mark them as read or unread, etc). It was a post directly to moderator in one of the feedback conversations.

Heard from Moderator via private message and they are working on this problem.

At present I don't find it too bad - I come directly to a post via my emails and the last week there haven't been that many (despite me following 3 different forums) and they match the in-site notifications. Are you still having other problems then?

Come back soon - I shall miss you here.
