Can't Handle Perimenopause Symptoms Anymore!!!

Posted , 57 users are following.

I think I have been in perimenopause for about 8 years now. I will be 49 in April. The last 10 months of my life have been horrible. The symptoms never seem to let up. They are only getting worse. My quality of life is absolutely terrible. The Jitters, Anxiety, Heart Palpitations, Panic Attacks, Blurred Vision, Dizziness, Off Balance Feeling, Pressure in My Head, Etc are ruining my life. I don't know what to do anymore. I have lost 20 pounds, eat organic and clean, no sugar, salt, caffeine or chocolate. I take a ton of supplements, progesterone cream, some soy, amino acids, calcium magnesium vitamin d fish oil, do acupuncture etc. Can't shake these terrible symptoms. I feel hopeless like this is who I will be for the rest of my life. I cry every morning when I wake up because I feel this way every morning. I don't even recognize myself in the mirror anymore. Went to Target with my Mom the other day and got stuck at the end of an isle holding on to a shelf for dear life crying. I felt so off balance, had a panic attack and couldn't move for a minute. This can't be my life forever. It's horrible. I want to go on hikes like I use to, go to the beach and boogie board again.. I cry just typing this because now I can't seem to do anything without having a panic attack. Sorry for this vent I'm just so discouraged by these symptoms that just don't stop

    Debbie,

Yo may want to see a Psychiatrist, they are licensed to write prescriptions as well as give advice to what may be triggering these issues. Get a referral and make usre to get all your blood tests run.

You know I saw a gastroenterologist and mentioned early menopause along with other symptoms and said how I'd drastically changed my diet to organic, cutting meat and dairy etc thinking I was doing the right thing. But.. A lot of my symptoms intensified and new ones arose in doing so, it kind of makes sense, I lost weight too, don't recognise myself either. But you spend a lifetime eating a certain way then Shock your body by depriving it of what it's used too. I realise I know nothing about you but the mental anxiety of making drastic changes and depriving yourself of things your body is used to may play some part in anxiety and weight loss, so I tried to bring back into my diet some things and cut back on the really bad stuff. I felt a bit better and regained some weight but not all.

Aside from that go get a comprehensive hormone panel, I pla to as soon as I can afford it, if you isolate some hormones which might be majorly out of wack ypthen you could work towards supplementing or getting the right meds to correct it.

Its no way to live the way you are right now, I am there too.

    Hope you feel better soon

You do not have to apologize for how you feel. That is why this forum is here. For you to vent and express your concerns to ladies that understand and are here for you. I've only been dealing with this craziness for 5 months and it really has taken a toll on me. I could cry knowing that I have more years of this to deal with. You will feel normal again and you will find some relief. My prayers and hugs are with you.

    Jamie xoxo

Sorry itvweill pass try not to fight it but go with it and say to yourself quietly something like ' stop go away you will not wear me down' simply positive words will help. Try not to build yourself up to having a panic or you will, but so what it will not harm you .. Be positive as in time these will pass. All the best.

What does your doctor say about all this, sounds like you feel miserable. Poor baby.cry  That's how I'd be, crying!!

Sometime doctors are not always right.  You can always se a different or a new type.  I had Meigs' syndrome , even a thoracic surgeon was wrong, he told my family I had lung cancer stage 4 after 2 surgeries.  It took a special ob/gyn to narrow it down.  I wish you the best of luck.  Seeing a psychiatrist can't hurt.

      Hi Tina,

Best things I think are b12, a good multivitamin and magnesium.

      Best thing prescribed HRT.

      hi Zigangie

can i ask what HRT are you on and what dosage and if bio-identical, really looking into this now as yours seems to be working for you?

I'm on oestrogel and Utrogestan. Yes they are both bio identical. 2 pumps of oestrogel and 200mg Utrogestan on first 12 days of calendar month. I do bleed with it days 8 to 14 of Utrogestan.

I'm going to ask when I see the doctor if I can try 3 or 4 pumps of the oestrogel because I had such an amazing improvement in sleep for the first 8 nights on oestrogel. If that doesn't help I may try lowering the dose to one pump.

But it has helped massively with anxiety and depression.

I'm also able to stay under the covers all night and instead of being hot all the time I just get that on occasions.

Lots of niggling aches and pains are better. My shoulder is taking time but at 3 months in it's gone back to how it began on and off instead of all the time.

At weeks 6 to 8 I almost gave up because I had many peri symptoms return especially sick and queasy all the time and a horrible taste.

I'm glad I stuck with it.

I did try livial before (it made a few things better but I had some breathing issue with it) I find this one much better, the difference in the first few weeks was amazing.

Hello I a new and what drew my attention is your message with you saying your shoulder. Did you have trouble with your shoulder. 3 yrs ago i had a partial hysterectomy. About a year ago i started having trouble with my gallblader which was removed and i was able to go back to eating. But that pain that i felt a little under my shoulder hasnt subsided. Now i feel like spasm around my shoulder i have been going to therapy which has helped but it is getting costly. The pain keeps coming back. It feeling like a stabbing pain and its more when i have done alot throughout the day. I dont know if it has to do with menopause. My whole body aches my allergies have gone crazy. It feels like all my bones and muscles hurt. I am on the patch .0275 it has helped the hot flashes and mood swings. But i still feell very tired and i am driving myself crazy thinking i am going to die soon sad . This year i have been to so many doctors sad . Has anybody else felt this way?

      Columbia,

I'm the same! I've been sick since August with sooo many crazy symptoms. So many doctors and tests. The left upper back pain next to my shoulder always nagging and trouble breathing too. I had my GB removed end of Nov but still not feeling well. I too think I'm dying. It's just awful.

Have just recently found out my ferritin level was very low and started taking iron supplements and eating more iron rich foods. Some symptoms have gone away, like heart palps, shakiness, anxiety, starting to get easier to breathe. New GYN started me on natural progesterone pills, thought it was great for the first 5 nights as it helped me sleep, but night 6 here I am typing at 3 AM. Latest symptom is awful rotator pain in my right shoulder, having MRI tomorrow. But my left shoulder is kind of hurting too. God, I'm a mess. I'm 52 and still getting my period. Ready for the torture to be over! It's just hard to know if it's peri or some awful disease that's being missed!

Is it your left shoulder blade? Or whole shoulder like rotator?

I've had both, frozen shoulder in right was terrible pain.

But I've had a stabbing pain in my left back near shoulder blade, one of my first symptoms and I believe now it's from my spleen. Peri kicked up old EBV.

Hi suzanne sorry for late response it is my right shoulder and I was doing better its off and on now that it hurts. I realize when i am stressed at work my pain starts again. That is exactly where i have the pain. I usually have my husband massage that area and i starts feeling better. He says he feels knots there so he presses with his elbow and massages the knot and i feel relief after. Now whats affecting me the most is either acid reflux or post nasal drip i cant figure it out. I say this cause my symptoms is throat ache and this is one of the symptons for both post nasal drip and acid reflux sad  I am praying i will figure it out soon just like i did my shoulder. I hope you feel better smile

I had the throat ache. It first started as a constant sore throat. Then turned in to a lump in the throat and it was hard to swallow. I had an ENT scope my throat, he said it might be silent reflux. This was at the beginning of my downward spiral and all the crazy symptoms that followed.

And I forgot to say, now I don't believe it was reflux at all..

Hi suzanne thanks for your response. Yeah i feel like its not acid reflux either. How long did your throat hurt? Yes i feel a lump and heaviness on my throat sad Yes hard to swallow sad

My throat was sore all of last August, then in September the lump feeling started. It eventually went away after about a month but then I started getting all other kinds of bad stuff. So this was one of my first symptoms. Every now and then my throat hurts now, but nothing like it was last year.
