Can't sleep

Does anxiety affect your sleeping? I wake up through out the night suddenly and I'll be so scared and my heart will be racing so quickly - it's ever since I had a panic arrack on Friday and now I can't seem to forget about it and it's making me so exhausted and drained with no sleep. My anxiety through the day is even worse when I'm tired and had no sleep - it's like one viscous circle. Feel helpless X

Your sleep will returnto normal, Sally.
One panic attack doesn't equal a life of not sleeping.
If you're at the end of your rope, do go and talk to your doctor - but don't take sleeping pills. They are very addictive.
Chrissie.

I know I think because I'm worrying about not sleeping it's actually making it harder to sleep if that makes sense. Getting all worked up I think.
Just hard dealing with anxiety like this - making me so upset

I do understand, Sally. Once you're wide awake and the clock says 2.06 or whatever you get that awful feeling of I AM NOT GOING TO GET ANY SLEEP TONIGHT.
A doctor once told me to get up and do the ironing or other household chores.
Weird advice, but it worked.
Your anxiety levels are high at the moment. You might benefit from an anti-depressant - a lot of them make you drowsy so that solvves the sleeping problem.......I do think you should go and talk to you doctor.
love Chrissie x

Hi chrissie, I'm in the UK so it's about 4 AM been asleep since 2 but woke up scared and frightened again I don't know what to do it's an awful feeling
I know think I'm going to make a green tea and watch some tv maybe to calm me down.
I think they are high at the moment and I'm getting so worked up about it all.
I've been to the doctors today but only got an appointment with the nurse. Had an ECG scan and everything was ok, still couldn't solved worries though. X

Sally, that's the trouble with anxiety disorder - you don't really believe the tests are right........somehow they 'missed something'. Is that how you feel? Oh and camomile tea helps some people to sleep.

I'm in the UK, too. I'm an A & E nurse and I did a night shift last night so I can't settle tonight.
Would it help if you told me what you are worrying about? You don't have to.

Aww right I see :-)
So do you get anxiety too or do you come on here to just give good advice?
It's my job for one - I have an interview tomorrow for a new one which I'll probably be panicking about too. But half of it is work related, then I have a new boyfriend and I'm not sure what to do about that. Don't think it's the right time for me so that's making me more anxious because he says he adores me and can't live with me and stuff... and my home life is hard. I have a twin and we're constantly arguing. She's upset seeing me having such bad anxiety but doesn't know how to handle it i don't think either neither does my mum. And my dad works away so it's hard to speak to someone and try and calm down. Think everything has got on top of me X

Can't live without me* that shouldn't say oops.
It's all the symptoms like the dizziness:light headed, muscle pains, twitching I can't deal with so upsets me X

Oh dear.
Everything all at once. Not good. Not easy to deal with.
By the way, I come on here to TRY to give good advice - but it's my choice - I have nothing to do with the website.
If you had to put your problems in order, with the most difficult one at the top, what would that be?

It seems really impossible to deal with at the moment
You seem to be calming me down so I'd say you give good advice.
I'd say when I'm at home - meant to feel chilled and relaxed but when I'm here I don't feel it, and you're meant to feel like that but it's hard.
My family is a loving and caring one don't get me wrong but In these situations not sure they know how to deal with it. Or what to say really,
Works a part too as well, not good when you hate something you do for the majority of the time but I am trying to get that sorted. X

I think there is you know! So I'm just trying to stay positive about that really

Yay!
Let's hope you'e right, then, because that will solve one problem straightaway. Then you only have to get rid of the boyfriend and educate your family about anxiety disorder and go to the doctor etc etc and all will be well.
Of course, things don't generally work out like that, but if you get the job and chuck the bloke (id you think it's the best thing to do) that's two problems solved within ten minutes.

Fingers crossed it would make me feel ten times better about everything if I did get the job :-)
He's lovely my boyfriend he really is but just not the right time for me. Think I'm worrying about hurting him as well, so hard all this
I just need sleep too. Feel so drained X

Yes. That is very difficult. That was why i suggested that you went to see your doctor and got an anti-depressant. They work for anxiety as well, and help you to sleep.
It is even more difficult to dump a nice bloke because you don't want to hurt him. It would be fine if he'd cheated, or hit you, but he's nice.
I see your dilemma.
