Cardiac Ablation

Well, I am having my ablation for SVT on May 31/16. Any words of wisdom for me? I stopped the Bisoprolol today for the procedure. I am very anxious

about this procedure.

      Hi Pauline,

Had an unsuccessful ablation today. They could not locate the irregular circuit. So disappointing

Hi Lolasmom  I understand exactly what you're going through because I also had a failed ablation in November because an attack couldn't be triggered.  However 2 days  ago my consultant tried again and this time it ws successful.  In fact he said he had managed to trigger it twice and after he had ablated he couldn't trigger it again, so I am very hopeful that it has been successful this time.  So don't despair, have another try and things could be completely different next time.  Best of luck!

      Hi Mary,

How are you feeling.?. I went through the procedure less the ablation. Quite the procedure eh? Wide awake and asking probably far to many questions.......Did they give you a reason why they could not trigger you?

I see the specialist Aug. w but he feels it was because I am taking a medication for anxiety.

I did not have any bleeding or lumps/bumps in the groin area-just a far amount of bruising. Laid low for a coup;e of day though

Since your procedure was just w days ago, I guess you are relaxing and taking it easy.

Thank you for repling. Please let me know how you are doing

      Hi Lolasmum,

No reason was given for the failure last time, however it was carried out by the registrar and not the consultant himself.  This time I asked specifically for my own consultant and he carried out the procedure.  It could be nothing to do with it but perhaps his experience made it easier for him to trigger an attack - who knows.

I'm feeling better thanks, still tired and have a feeling of pressure in my chest - a bit like indigestion.  I haven't had any palpitations since but mine were always random anyway so it will be several months before I really believe that I'm cured.  I didn't have any bleeding the first time either so I don't know why it happened this time; I lay down for the required 4 hours. I suppose it's just the luck of the draw.

?I hope it all works out for you too.  Keep in touch. x

      Hi Lolasmum,

?Good to hear from you again.  I'm doing well thanks, haven't had any attacks since my ablation although I do still get the sensation that it's going to happen so I cough hard which stops it.  Perhaps it would stop anyway but I'm not taking any chances.

?How are things with you?  Have you had a successful ablation now?

      Hi there,

Not yet. I saw him in Feb. He wanted to do it again in May. But I am on 2 antiety medications that have to weaned off in order to have the ablation done.  may is just not long enough, so i postponed it.

Going through the weaning process right now...Not nice.....

Hi, they will give you stuff to chill you out so the procedure will be less stressful than you think now. I hope it will be as positive for you as it was for me!

Just wanted to let you know that my ablation was unsuccessful . He could not find the irregular circuit. 11 hours there and nothing to show for it except my punctures. The dr. Thought maybe it did not show because of the anxiety medication. So disappointing

Oh I'm sorry it was unsuccessful..

Do they have plans to try again? Results aside, how did u find the procedure? Were u able to keep ur anxiety under control?
