I have had a nerve conduction test about 4weeks ago and have been told today that i have Carpal Tunnel. My doctor is going to refer me to the hospital for surgery, is there any questions i should ask when i get to see the consultant? I do not know much about it, ihave it in my right hand, i am abit worried after reading some of these stories on this forum. Is there anyone who surgery has worked for?

I'm going for a consult on Thursday for surgery in my dominant hand. Anyone have comments on recovery time and how long you were off work?

Thanks. Also questions to ask surgeon?

Terri ,best thing I had done after suffering YEARS with carpal tunnel ( cause years of knitting ) had it done 6/7 yrs ago now , why did I wait so long ? Stupid me putting up with that pain in early hours of every morning ,plus during day when over use of hands I paid for it dearly .

Go for it ,won't regret it . They do that op regularly ,no questions need asking I sure didn't have any . The sheer relief honest your be glad you had it done . They take good care of you . It's just a day at hospital .

    Hi Louise,

I had carpal tunnel a few years back, and managed to overcome it by strengthing my extensor muscles in my hand. I had carpal tunnel for 5 years, and easily overcame it with the exercises if you want more info you can message me.

I would like information about the excercises please.  My nerve conduction tests were negative for carpal tunnel but the doctor still says that is what I have.  Apparantly the tests are not 100% accurate.  I wear splints at night and don't want to have surgery.

hey CTS if done correctly would be most benefisal.  Although I feel that as soon as cast removed you should enter into some type of Occupational therepy. If you dont start moving them things get stiff and painful real soon
