Catching/popping sensation with new hip

I had a right THR six week ago and now I'm noticing a catching/popping sensation down the thigh when I walk.

If I place my palm over my thigh near the incision area and begin walking it feels like a muscle or a tendon is catching and popping as I take steps. I mentioned this to the surgeon but he says it's likely to be iliotibial band and it should correct itself in time.

It's left me feeling quite anxious. I've read that some people who reported similar issues had to undergo further surgery to correct a muscle/tendon impingement where the cup of the hip implant is rubbing and causing pain.

I'm not getting any pain but just conscious that something doesn't feel smooth with the new hip. I'm trying to ignore it, telling myself it's early days and there is probably a lot a healing still to go but I can't put my mind at rest and it's causing a lot of worry.

The hip was replaced using the posterior approach. I'm using one crutch for the next four weeks then the surgeon says I should be able to walk without any aids.

I'm 3 months post-op (non weight bearing for the first 6 weeks) and I've been experiencing the same thing for the last few weeks. It causes me no pain but I too am very conscious about it. The surgeon told me it could be the psoas muscle rubbing over the implant and will get better with time and strengthening but that was 3 weeks ago and am still experiencing it as well as a limp. Just wondering how you are doing and if it has resolved itself?

i had my right hip replaced total (anterior). I am now total disabled, i have severe pain from the front upper part of my hip that wraps around to the lower part of my butt. If i prop up on chair, table, etc remove most weight from leg if i flex my thigh muscle it pops and makes such sever pain i get tears in my eyes. I just seen a doc last week that said the implant was too short and sent me for total bone scan now 2 weeks later he said the new hip looks perfect and nothing is loose that i need to see a back specialist. This is the 4th doc i have seen about my issue and seems they all won't get involved, so for past 16 months i take oxycodone like skittles just to get out of bed, I fall frequently due to the hip giving out and now my left hip is hurting also. I have no strength in leg cant lift it without using my hands to grab and move it, when i was in physical therapy the therapist worked my hip 1 wk and told me something was wrong called my original doctor and he just stopped therapy. I have never been allowed to see the dr that performed the surgery, only his n.p. even demanding to speak to him they had me leave his office and passed me off to pain management to be strung out in narcotics.

Hi, I'm 5 weeks post RTHR and experiencing the same sensation, did you ever get to the bottom of the cause and did it eventually go away? I'm finding it very uncomfortable and am worrying all the time about what it could be.

I am 3 weeks THR . I have been experiencing the same popping sensation. I have been walking around the house without my cane for the past 4 days . I have a new puppy that is requiring a ton of attention. I was worried that i dislocated my hip last night when I bent down to pick him up. The popping started today. I have no pain. Just weird popping feeling at the top of my thigh near my hip. Dr hasn't returned my call yet.
