CBD oil capsules to help to reduce prednisolone

Posted , 13 users are following.

Saw a friend this week whose husband was stuck on 3.5mg of pred for sarcoidosis. She said he started taking CBD oil capsules from health food shop recently and he was then able to reduce with no flares and is now on zero and feeling fine. Think he's still taking them and wonder if he will be dependent??

The sales person in health shop said its great for inflammation and all the assistants take them for different reasons!

I have researched possible side effects, usual stuff, but also the pros sound great. Problem is it's not been tested to any degree.

Has anyone else tried it and found it helpful with no side effects?

Wonder if it's better to be dependent on a plant based substance rather than steroids.

Any views?

THANKS for your interest. Before prednisone I had no osteopenia despite being post menapausal small white woman. I ice skated competively from age 4-18 and did other sports a few times a week. As an adult, even now, I play tennis 90- 180 minutes @ 5 x a week, and soccer @ 3x a week 8 mos of the year. Try to weight lift weekly. Right now the RA is interfering with my sports. My rheumatologist thinks my

( excessive) sports has helped me have a great quality of life despite PMR. But now, osteo-arthritis and RA are interfering with that... and osteoporosis are demanding we look at other options than prednisone. sigh....

MY dexascans were all good despite being post menapausal small woman over 60,but since prednisone they've gotten steadily worse ( fast) and now there is osteoporosis at L3,L4 and arm ... osteopenia in other places.. ive only had one tiny broken bone in my hand, tennis injury, and it healed so well it was almost invisible on my last hand xray. That gave me some hope.

Have you been investigated for other possible causes? I understand, for one example, that issues with the parathyroid glands are not uncommon and until those are sorted neither natural nor drug means can improve bone density.
