CFS/ME Sufferers. Let's talk about what has HELPED you!

I think those of us who have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome can agree that we need extra rest, a good diet, persistence with recalcitrant doctors, and to maintain as positive an attitude as we can.

Right? That said, please, can anyone provide any tips, remedies, activities, Anything, that you have found that work to increase your energy level? Anyone?

I have just started the Dr Gupta Amygdala Retaining programme.  It's early days but it is starting to help me.  Fingers crossed it will be a total success.  If not total, it would be nice to have an 8/10 good feeling sometimes.

I am not familiar with that, but I will definitely learn about it today. I really wish you success and try to let us know how you do with it . Thank you and good luck.

    For me:

    1. Give in and don't overdo anything.  Even reading a book can be overdone.  Pay attention to your body, know it's systems so that you can tell when you are about to overdo.

    2.  Allergy testing

    3.  Check for vitamin and mineral difficiencies.  I have to take iron and Vit D.

    4.  Find some way to get out of the house on occasion.  If this requires getting an electric wheelchair, go for it.  If you spend too much time in the house, you will start to go bonkers.

    5.  Meds.  I know lots of people don't agree and would rather go the natural way, but for me, without prescription pain and allergy meds, I would be a sobbing mess.

    6. Mental health therapy.  No, I am not saying this disease is mental.  However, I needed help to learn to accept that I was sick.  I needed help to learn to give in.  If you have a similar problem, I would suggest therapy.

    7.  Get a good support person.  Someone to unhook your bra.  Someone to help put your socks on when your feet are suddenly 20 feet away and you can't reach them.  Someone to hold you when you cry.  Someone to nuture your life.

    8.  Finally, I would get a mess of sticky notes.  I can't remember anything anymore.  Once I go to sleep for the night, if I haven't written down something that I wanted to remember, that information if gone.

    Hope some of this helps.

      Some fab suggestions!

I'm on your page all the way.... Miss Ravenwood.

Am sending you lots of love, something to reach your socks....start wearing a bra that you just slip over your head!! So much easier.

      😍

I love my diary book even though sometimes it's hard to keep up to date...and I love looking back. I pat myself on the back when I make progress although Chocolate could be on my next list...

      Ravenwood,

Your advice is very much along my own philosophy. I'm happy that you haven't decided to throw yourself into that hammock and stay there! Sometimes we are great at giving advice and not so great at following it, as you have just reminded me. Thanks!

LOL.  I can't wear a bra that goes over my head.  Somehow my ability to coordinate my arms and my head together had disapearred entierly.  If I try to wear a bra that goes over my head I end up looking like a contortionist that has gotten stuck.  My husband laughs at me and then untangles the mess.

      Aw...sorry..just an idea.

I must admit I did try to undo mine how I normally do (yesterday)...and had to give in !

Please tell me this isn't the start of old age 😍😍

I remember once upon a time seeing someone fasten their bra in front and turning it around to the back, and thinking " I wonder why she did that?" and I still try not to do that if I can manage it, you know, little triumphs, but in the end, who cares how the heck we manage it...at least we're up and dressed that day by gosh!

I've always done it that way. My mum always did it that way and I just naturally followed that pattern.  I have very stiff shoulders so couldn't be able to fish around me trying to connect hooks which I can't see.  I fasten at the front, spin it round and then arms in.  I can undo from the back.

I know, probably more women than not fasten then turn. It was a really long time ago that I thought it odd, certainly didn't take long to figure out how much sense it made! Still hoping to learn more about that Amygdala retraining. Hope you have an awesome day. Are you in US or UK ? If you care to day of course. I'm in the US and trying to be mindful of the time difference.

That is what I do.  I fasten and unfasten my bra by swinging it around to the front.  I think it might look a bit weird, but it does work.  Of course, if I stay home and work, I don't wear a bra at all.  Shhhh, don't tell anyone . . .
