can any let me now what sort of chair you have to sit in after full hip replacement as I only have a low 3 pice suite

    i think it depends on your NHS trust i was just given sticks, a raised loo seat and a grabber

    Hi Alan

    Hope your surgery goes well and you have a quick recovery. I am in the UK and my occupational therapist arranged a Commode, Raised toilet seat, Perching chair and as my sofa was low i had special feet put on sofa to make it higher. I could have asked for other items but as im disabled already i had most if what i needed already.

      It is amazing the difference between NHS trusts on what you get. Obviously my area are cutting back.

      Totally agree with you ptolemy,

      My occupational therapist was brilliant . I didnt have a hip replacement i fell and broke my hip 6 weeks ago now and had a repair with rod and screws so everything was sorted out for me whilst i was in hospital ready for when i came home.

    Chair should be quite high, as lowering too far will hurt and be quite uncomfortable. And you may dislocate the hip if you sit too low too soon. Good luck 😉

    Google "elephant feet" - they go under the legs of your favourite chair to raise it.
