CHAMPIX. 7 WEEKS ON AND ITS BECOME HELL.

Posted , 22 users are following.

Started on the champix 7 weeks ago and at first i was so happy with the tablet, it made giving up so easy for me, Yes i had you used a little will power at times and had a few days where it nagged me mad, i think that was about 3 weeks in. the last 4 weeks have been hell at night as i am having 3 perhaps 4 nightmares or bad dreams each night and the lack of getting a good nights rest  caught up on me but no way was i giving in to fags. My smoking adivser at the doctors is away at the mo and ive had bad thoughts during the day and feeling low. 3 days ago i decided i must stop taking the evening tablet and only take the morning one if i am at all going to improve my sleep and day time thoughts, Last night i was dream free thank good and my thoughts are back on track, so for now its one tablet a day for me and fight a little bit harder.

Hi you two! Thats over two years stopped for me. Ive managed to stay resolute. Not a day goes by when I dont sigh with relief. Was great passing duty free at the airport and walking past the fags, felt so sorry for those grabbing their last puffs before going through passport control. Great to hear from the both of you. We're just planning our first day in Alicante, wow its hot already. Xx

I have used champix along time ago when it first came out I think Well I'm on day 2 and the memories of the nausea cam straight back lol. I gave up cold turkey for 4 years and then I met my now fiancé 2.5 years ago and started back up so went to drs yesterday to get the script as I'm hoping that's all I need is just he kick start. They already taste horrible and struggle now to get thru a whole cigarette. I was lucky I never suffered from any of the side effects apart from the nausea last time I was on it so hopefully this time it's the same. I have set my goal already that once this pouch I'm on is finished that will be me, see how things go I suppose

I'm on day 3.  I've been smoking for 30 years and have tried everything.  I've already lost some of the need to smoke but have a long way to go.  Good luck.

Good morning geraldine. Firstly i would like to say congrats to you for takeing the steps to stop smokeing, Well done. I also hope you have managed to continue with the good work. The best advise i could give you is to contact your doctors and ask for a telephone call back from your doctor today. its easy to assume things and give wrong advise so your doc is the best way forward. Please stay in touch and let us all know how things go and support is always here.

Hi debbie. hows things, time has flown since we started on this post, almost 3 years. Hope Graham2434 is also doing well. Smoking is now a thing of the past for me and was well worth the effort put in. I still cannot get my wife to stop but i dont give her to much grief as we all know how controlling it is. Thank you and everone else who gave me support in the early days, it was without doubt helpful.

Hello! Was hoping you would be here to help Geraldine too. All good at this end, huge temptations have been put in my way this year, but I havent succumbed. I know how hard is was to stop (well not so bad with champix) and I never want to go back there. Hopefully one day your wife will find the motivation to stop one day. Great to hear youre doing well!

Hi Geraldine:  I have been on Champix for awhile.  I think I have been prescribed this multiple times as I have in the past broken down and started smoking again, for reasons that now are stupid.  I made it through the starter kit, but asked doctor for the follow up kit.  I  want to be sure I am quitting for good, thus more Champix.  Truthfully I have been having nightmares, coughing fits in the night, 2 nights ago I had to rush to the bathroom as I started feeling quite sick to my stomach.  My husband suggested that i STOP the Champix and see if that did anything.  It's only been a few days, so what sensation I am feeling is for me quite odd.  I get this hot pocket of air in my throat, like a tummy ache, but burning and uncomfortable.  My tongue feels like I have licked tar/nicotine and foods, some that is, taste vile.  Champix made me sick, however cancer and cancer therapy will really made one sick.  Wish you the best.  Marj
