Cheese to go with my whine?

I'm impatient, that gives me energy but also makes me as grumpy as a Crocodile in a bath tub! It's now 10 weeks since my hip replacement, I'm 56. It was going pretty well, the usual stuff..learning to walk again .Am I being really too impatient ? When I walk I have quite a lot of pain in the outside of my thigh..it actually feels as if someone has tied a wire tornequet around it! I have dogs, lots of 'em and walking is so important to us but within just a few yards (old money) this vice like grip grabs me at the top of my thigh, it does feel as if the muscle has gone into spasm. Oh and another question...I have an audible click as I walk..normal ? There is no sweeling anywhere but the whole area of the thigh and across the hip is still very tender...Help please? xxrolleyes

Strongly advise you to go and see your GP.  It is dangerous to take unqualified advice, no matter how well-intentioned.

As for clicks-and-clunks it seems most of us get them (I'm seven weeks post TLHP and clnking with other other step!) My surgeon assures me they are absoutely normal and to do with "tissue realignment".

But really think you should go to the Dr. about the thigh pain.

    Good Luck.

Hi Waggy, sorry to hear of your pain, but have you had PT? i am 9 weeks PO and still having PT every other day and walking, he gave my leg a massage the other day as he said my muscles were tight It was so so lovely, which approach did you have, it may be scar tissue but you need to get it checked to put your mind at ease, we all recovery at different rates, last week walked everywhere no sticks this week have to use a stick again, it seems one step forward too back.  I havnt walked my cocker spaniel yet hubby has it to do as I am to frightened he will have me over . Let us know what the Dr says, all the best

You should DEFINITELY have PT I'm 5 months post op and still going to PT. I had to take a break because of another injury but it has helped soooo much!

Wow! That's a lot of dogs. No wonder you need to get back on your feet quickly!

Sounds like a PT will help. About a month or more in recovery my right thigh hurt so bad every time i put my foot on the floor. Told my PT and it was a muscle in my leg. He massaged the thigh and stretched it. I got right up and thought he was a miracle worker. I dont have clicks in the hip but i do have them in my back after operation. No pain. Guess its all realigning. You are still early in recovery.one day you will feel great and the next you will wonder whats going on. See the doc if you are really worried. Good luck

Actually you should not have a click on the operative side

Have you had a recent xray. It may be the tendon ifs slipping over the prostheses or the hip is s slipping in the docket.all this would cause the symptoms your having call your doctor and get in there soon.sad

But lynn he is in pain. And swelling that may make difference. I'm five and half weeks .never had a click..

It's those symptoms could show what's going on.
