Chest/heart anxiety symptoms?

Posted , 5 users are following.

I was wondering what everyone's physical symptoms to do with your chest? Normally I have a tightness sorta feeling in my chest, as well as a hollow feeling as if my heart isn't actually in my chest. Lately (this morning) I had a warm/hot sensation on the left side of my chest when exhaling which scared me, seeing as it's a new symptom.

I also had 4 palpitations in a row, I normally experience only one or two skipped beats over a week but today I had the four. Is this dangerous? How do everyon else's palpitations feel? Mine feel like my hearts skipped a beat, or possibly beats out of rhythm for one beat only then returns to normal. If it's quite an intense palpitation I feel it all the way up into my throat rolleyes

Seeing as I have health anxiety (Stemming mainly around my heart, my dad died because he went into cardiac arrest while home alone), any chest symptoms make me believe o have a heart problem sad

Have you had this checked out by your doctor?  If you haven't, I would make an appointment and see what he/she has to say about it.  Good luck with it.  x

I've been to both the doctor and the hospital 2 times each, have had blood tests, chest X-ray, electrocardiograms, oxygen levels, pulse took etc. Everything's come back clear, docs have said its 'probably' anxiety, some of my symptoms they've said they've never heard of but its 'probably' because of anxiety.

Oh and forgot to add that my dad wasn't biologically my dad. Realised I didn't make that clear in my post rolleyes

See that's the stupid thing. I can't exactly say I'm scared in case it is something genetic that's been passed onto me, it's just I've seen it happen to someone so close to me and it messed me up rolleyes

Hi I am not a doctor but those skipped beats you feel could be ectopic beats (skipped beats) they are almost always harmless and are a common symptom of anxiety! Now I have been diagnosed with these after having a 24hr holter monitor and when I'm particularly anxious I feel them I had 3 in 2 minutes last week and it is scary.

Search about ectopics and anxiety and you'll probably see that they could be what your experiencing.

But go to your doctor and rule anything else out that way you will deal with the physical symptoms better. X

Doctors won't offer me the holter monitor because all other tests they've give me have come back clear. Although people tell me that the skipped beats are most probably harmless they scare me so much when they happen, it often messes me up for the rest of the day and I spend the day on edge! X

They can tell a lot from simple tests you have to believe that. I know I can be on cloud 9 get a skipped beat and I'm a right mess again! I've got CBT next Tuesday I'm hoping it will help stop me worrying so much, that's all I seem to do at the moment.

Just think how many people have this I've seen loads of stories and people say they've had skipped beats for years and their fine. Oh and everyone gets at least one a day some people just don't notice them! Don't worry try and enjoy as much as you can and drink plenty that helps a lot for me! X

Sometimes I get weird pulses in chest

I take my pulse on my wrist and press on my chest to feel my heartbeat that much that the slightest difference in pulse/heart rate scares me. I find myself constantly taking my pulse lately.

Well I don't check pulse much now because propranolol helps a lot but I still get abit heart race with them I think I should ask for 15 mg instead of 10mg

Oh right, unfortunately I'm too young to be given any meds from my GP. However, he did sort of 'let slip' that if I were to see a mental health expert/professional and they thought medication would help me they'd be able to prescribe something. Apparently the GP himself doesn't have the authority with me being so young but other people do.

16, they've said minimum age to be prescribed by my GP is 18.
