I wanted to tell my experience. Two days ago I had a Fissurectomy. And so far the recovery has been the best thing that has happened to me in the last three months. No pain, just discomfort, that I have been managing with Advil and Tylenol alternately. Today after two days I had my first BM, very scared, but no pain, just a little burning now that I am resting.
My surgeon had told me that he was planning to do the LIS but it depended on when he opened in the surgery, he decided on the Fissurectomy or the LIS and ended up doing the Fissurectomy. I have followed this forum every day for the last three months and they have been the best support I have ever had. I will keep posting my recovery

I'm so happy for you! I finally have my appointment with a new surgeon tomorrow to discuss surgery options. Do you happen to know why your doctor chose the fissurectomy over LIS? Also were you put out for the surgery? How was it immediately after? Was there much bleeding? I'm so over this pain. The skin tag seems to get really inflammed and burns really bad after a bowl movement. Did you have this also?

Hi x
I have this.
So I had botox and removal of skin tag. Obviously there's a tiny bit left from the incision and for me, that is what hurts the most!!!!
When I asked my surgeon he said two things
A) the pain was from the fissure and I just think it's the tag
B) the remainder of the tag will 'soften' over time and I won't notice it.
That was 7 months ago...
Can I ask a question, does yours only feel apparent and painful after the toilet plus 4-5 hours? As later in the day /evening mine physically does not feel like it's even there let alone painful??

The skin tag is super sensitive to touch so I know that it hurts. I think the fissure is probably the cause but the skin tag isn't a bystander lol I actually had like 4 days last week with zero pain but then starting Thursday I had some pain and has been fairly consistent since. During those 4 days i didn't have to sitz bath or use creams (I don't even know if the creams help anymore since I've been using it for like 8 months..) but i have a burning sensation now after a BM and it kind of feels like sore and scabby during the BM... I'm over it. I also have super soft BMs so i know it isn't the BM that causes it, it just whenever it feels like it. But now i do a sitz bath, sometimes i need 2 for more relief and have tried an icepack after which actually helps! I cannot wait for this to be over.

Yeah I agree, it is the skin tag too.
R u in UK?
Appointment tomorrow? Good luck.
I too have been struggling with this since August.
Have u already had botox?
I had botox and tried all remedies and creams. Waiting for my next app
Good luck xxx

I saw a doctor a couple weeks ago to see if the fissure was still open from the botox injection i have 3 months ago. That doctor thought the skin tag was a hemorrhoid. I'm 99% sure its not though and the specialist I saw for the botox injection said it wasn't either. Common mix up but I heard sometimes hemorrhoid creams can help with the pain.
I'm not in the UK. I'm in Israel so the economy has opened up a lot and am able to make appointments. I had an acute fissure for a while but it really didn't bother me other than the amount of blood, but it didn't really hurt. Then the beginning of October it got severe and has been since. The surgeon i saw back then said it was torn to muscle. Its been an uphill battle since. I've done various creams, sitz baths, diet changes, and botox and it still isn't healed. I hope I can put this behind me soon
When is your next appointment?

I really don't know why Dr chose Fissurectomy over LIS. He was not very in favor of doing the LIS because I have given birth 2 times. My experience after GA was good too, I have not had any pain even once. Today is my fourth day after surgery. I've already had 3 BM. After each BM I have an itchy burning sensation. But nothing to do with what we've been through. I have not had excess bleeding but I do know when I clean the toilet paper it is stained with a little blood, but this is normal. Dr ordered me to take laxative. Just as I still wake up scared before the BM, I think it is something that will be last with us for a time. I was so scared of Fissurectomy, more than for LIS, because I read such a terrible history, but for me this is the best experience. You need to do your surgery asap. best wishes

Wow thank you so much for that info! It definitely gives me hope. I'm 29 almost and got married about a year ago. No births yet, but obviously we would like to have children which is also why i want to get this dealt with sooner rather than later. Did your doctor seem concerned about doing LIS for women in general? I've gotten that opinion also. It's so hard to know what to do, but i don't want to go thru this anymore.
Is there any pain from removing the skin tag? I'm also kind of nervous about this also. What's your care like post surgery (i.e. sitz baths, cream, stitches, etc)?
Thank you so much for sharing your experience!

I think my Dr didn't want to do the LIS because I'm a woman. He gave me many excuses before the operation and tried to avoid it. Especially because of the incontinence that could create me, I told him to do the LIS but in the end he didn't. He told me that when he opened he decided. I am taking sitz baths 4 times a day, no creams at all, and I am taking Advil and Tylenol every 6 hours alternately. I feel the stitches a little bit I think they are still there

As long as the fissure is fixed and not a problem anymore! I also keep being told to avoid surgery, but I can't live like this and also it seems the specialist I saw said he thinks the fissure should be healed before having kids.. so I think i need surgery for that at this point. Seems to be a catch 22! I'm not interested in reoccurrence or waking up everyday wonder what will be.

Coronavirus: how quickly do COVID-19 symptoms develop and how long do they last?
By now, hopefully everyone knows about the key symptoms of coronavirus - fever about 37.8°C and new continuous cough. But there's still much confusion about how quickly symptoms develop after exposure to the virus and what you can expect if you do become infected.
