Chronic cough lasting 8 months. Looking for the cause.

I'm a 35 year old non-smoker and I've had a wet cough for 8 months. It started when I got a cold in October. All my other symptoms went away but the cough. I keep it at bay with a corticosteroid inhaler, but if I'm even an hour late in taking my inhaler, then I start coughing again. It does not feel like an asthma attack, it's wet and constant. Ive been treated with multiple rounds of doxycycline antibiotic. I started getting better after the first round for two days then it came back. After the third round, my doctor decided it likely wasn't bacterial. My doctors have tested and ruled out thyroid problems, lung cancer, and heart problems. Please let me know if you know anyone who has had similar symptoms. I'd love to find out what this is and get better. Right now I have three doctors who can't agree on whay it is.
