i am so confused my doctors say they dont know what is wrong so now just say oh you have chronic pain we think. but i dont understand why when i had my MRI why they said they thought i should be having a brain scan can anybody help me with this or give me any advise? i am so stressed out with all this i know something is not right i know my know body but its as if know body wants to find out know that they have put down that it maybe chronic paini would be so greatful if someone could explain

Have you had Parkinson's ruled out? Not to freak you out, but when unexplained one sided pain is being experienced, it's worth looking into, go see a neurologist to rule it out.

    Hello,

First I'd like to say sorry the MRI scanners tried to treat you.  I doubt they were doctors, probably only MRI techs.  I think you should see a massage therapist.  I am one, and I see and treat these symptoms several times a day.  I am in no way making a diagnosis, just suggesting an option to check out.  Your muscles are probably out of balance and need to be stretched out and strengthened.  Imbalanced muscles can cause pain throughout the body, joints included, as well as numbness and coolness (compression of nerves and blood vessels from muscles). It can be a dull ache, a sharp pain a shooting pain plus everything between.   To correct it the tight muscles need to be stretched out, then everything needs to be strengthened.  Not muscle man strong - just enough so they are slightly stronger than what you need for a typical day.  As for fibromyalgia, it is most commonly felt on both sides of your body. I doubt it, but technically it still could be the issue.  The good thing is, massage helps fibromyalgia as well!

Hello! Today suddenly the pain has come right from my head to my toes. Does this have anything to do do related to only spondilytis as in my neck X ray it was confirmed that I did have spondylitis. I take medicines for seizures which occur once in a blue moon. There is discomfort  just above the abdomen. My thighs and legs are paining. And feel very weak. The last 2 fingers have gone numb. Nothing can be seen in tests where all is normal. Normally never had head aches, but now I feel as though someone has hit me in the back of my head. And sometimes after eating head spins fast that I am not able to walk in balance. And I am beginning to forget. I really dont know what to do with all this? I try to forget the pain as it is not chronic, but some days it does come. Does this all have anything to do with nerves?

      Hi

The numb fingers and headaches might indicate cervical spondylosis.  You should ask your GP or Physio for a referral for MRI scan of neck area to determine cause,  and then you can look at appropriate treatments.  If the pain is recurring,  even though it disappears during some phases,  it is still 'chronic'....meaning it recurs 'over time',  but not necessarily 'all the time'.  With spondylosis,  a repeating sequence of painful and non-painful phases is viewed as a chronic pain condition.  If you do have spondylosis,  there are likely to be symptoms directly related to nerve issues....numb fingers being an obvious clue.  MRI scans are best for locating source problem,  or failing that a physiotherapist might be able to spot the problem with some movement and nerve reaction tests.

Hi, not sure if the thread is still alive. Any ladies here , who share the same pain as my wide endures ? WHole body left pain (left head,neck,back,hip,leg,foot).. with no pain on the right ? Her pain is almost always 24/7, except during the menstrual cycle. Its an incredible clue for us, but no solution in sight yet. Wondering if any women who have this pain, also expereince the same 'relief' during their periods  ?Pls share... maybe its hormonal and we can together find a solution!!

Any women experiencing this problem ? My wife was on OCP pills and suddenly the pain vanished for 6 whole months. We suspect it is hormone imbalance, which the OCP tends to balance out. We thought this was the solution, however the pain came back recently after 6 months of pain free. We think its because of physical exertion she did. Any woman with left body pain delivered a child ? Wondering if left side pain goes away with child birth ?

Ive had left side pain for 2 years, after increasing running and weight lifting (mainly squats). After 2 years of doc visits weve finally discovered i have FAI or Hip Impengemnt. Its both sides, but only left side is symptomatic. Neck, shoulder and arm pain have been considered TOS or Thoracic Outlet Syndrome.

There is a surgery to help with FAI, but requires specialist in procedure as its fairly new.

Anyhow, sucks to probably need surgery, its nice to finally have some explination.

      Hope this helps someone else.

My pain started after my first child. My blood work showed signs of autoimmune stuff but no diagnosis. I had gestational diabetes with all 3 pregnancies. Oddly with my last pregnancy which was my first boy, my pain subsided! But it came back a few months after he was born. I was on a strict diet and insulin. Maybe diet related. There are so many things to consider. All I know is aside from part of my last pregnancy I have not been without pain in 12 years. I need to demand attention from my doctor. It's hard when you just sound like your whining and have no actual injury.

Jonathan have they not suggested fixing without surgery? Fai doesn't always require surgery I thought. Gait and weight loading patterns can affect the the hips greatly. I have had left side pain for about 15 years now and they have just told me it's cervical disc related

Mark, just revisted this after some new thoughts... I went ahead and had the surgery back in July (by worlds leading FAI surgeon) and thankfully all went well with the hip, but I cant say it fixed anything for entire left side pain/sligh numbness. (I honestly would not have had the surgery had I known it wouldnt fix the rest...)

The reason I revist this today is because I have a new theory that my left side issues may be related to Amlodipine (High Blood Pressure Medication). When I think back, none of my issues really started untill my Doc switched me from Beta Blocker to Amlodipine. There are so many people that complain about similar symtpoims related to Amlodipine, and here is a medical article as well...

      https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/9825082

So out of curiosity, anybody else on this site taking Amlodipine (or Calcium Channel Blocker) for High Blood Pressure?

I am going to stop taking Amlodipine today (I have Lisinopril and Metoprolol as alternative to take menawhile)

My pain started after my last Caesarian section and it was shooting pain on the left hand with severe pins and needles and on the neck. This was 8 years ago but it now exasperated to the whole of the left side of my body with pins and needles, numbness and 24/7 pain on the left side that I feel I would like to axe off that left side off the rest of my body.

I had a Brain and neck MRI scan and the neurologist explained that I do not have any abnormal sysmtpoms for a person of my age, now I am 51 yrs.

I am slowly understanding my symptoms and what aggrevates it. I also came to a simialr conclusion as has been discussed in this forum, it is a neck issue for me so at night time I found 1 or 2 positions that my pain is at its least, unfortunately you still get woken up during the middle of the night because you changed positions.

On my next visit to the neurologist who has not helped me with any suggestions for the whole of last year, I shall ask him either to define my condition otherwise I shall ask him for a copy of the MRI scan as some of you have suggested and I shall find somebody to help me privately.

With regards to NHS and its service, you might not pay but also you do not get help when you mostly need it.  I lost faith in the NHS system, it is a failed system however much money is pumped into it.

I have pain on my left side, from the top of my head to my finger tips and toes. I have read most of these requests for relief and wanted to share what has helped me most. I have been getting a full body, including Reflexoligist (your feet), for the last 2 years on a monthly bases.  It has helped me tremendously!  If you have never had a message, try several different massage therapist, there are really good ones and some really not so good ones.  Then make a deal with the one you choose that you will be a regular customer, and they will probably discount the Fee.

Sometimes I have to have one more frequently, but nothing has ever helped me more!

Find a masseuse that knows where you hurt before you tell them, those are the best kind.  Hope this helps someone out!

I have achy pain on the left side of my body including achy and stabbing chest pain which makes me a bit anxious. It has been intermittent for over two years. This forum helped me to better understand the pain and to know I am not alone. The pain now is from my big toe, up my anklewith sore spots on my leg, sore lower back I want to crack all the time, shoulder blade knot, sore ribs front and back, sore sternum, sore and sine stabbing under breast and sore above breast, neck and this time a sore temple. I think it is fibromyalgia and am going to seek a new doctor to check me out. I will share findings, symptoms and anything I find successful to manage it. If you have this type of pain, too, please share your findings. I felt so alone until I read this and found that the chest plan is called, "Costochondritis."
