It is not he case that if you have chronic prostatitis that you have higher than normal PSA level.  I have had "prostatitis" for over 20 years and my PSA level is lower than most people my age.  The reason I am using quotes around the word prostatitis is that it is a very broad diagnosis of generalized pelvic pain.  I you have been diagnostic with non bacterial prostatitis as a posed to bacterial prostatitis the you could really have pelvic floor dysfunction.  Before the doctor starts trying to put you on all kinds of meds first make sure whether you are testing positive for bacteria.  If you have not positive pathogen test, including a test of prostate fluid,  try researching p Ovid floor disfuntion as many urologist are starting to suggest physical theropy by a trained pelvic floor therapist as a first step in treatment.  Hope this helps as I was given many meds over the years which seemingly made my symptoms worse over time.

Ah, I agree with you. Did you find any relief with PT and relaxing those pelvic floor muscles?

As you can imagine it is not easy to get into A PT program as there are very few PT's that specialize in the pelvic floor.  I started exercises about 4 months ago by myself and just started With a PT about 3 weeks ago but am already feeling some results.  It is an up and down road though some weeks you feel better than others.  All in all though I have gone from debilitating pain to being able to cope with out the us of any meds.  I just ice the pelvic when I am feeling an discomfort and this seems to work well.  Good luck.

That sounds Great, Derek. Happy for you. After taking 2 weeks of Cipro and doxy with muscle relaxants, my pain in the left scrotum is minimized. Does it sounds like a infection where cipro and doxy is trying to fight?

In that area it is difficult for even a doctor to diagnose. It is good that the pain has reduced.
