As you say the infection will have raised your PSA so having it is seems rather pointless.

YEs. To confirm that u have prostatis, is it a good idea to take PSA test. I heard that if u have prostatis, PSA level will be flared up. Is it true, Derek. Between I'm 26.

It can go really high. I never had a PSA when I had prostatitis. Beware of Cipro and Fluoroquinolone drugs.

As far as I know, anything where the prostate is stressed or diseased raises the PSA. Benign Enlargement, Cancer or other Inflammation such as Infection. Therefore, raised PSA just confirms there's something wrong, but is not specific as to what is causing it.

    PSAs are worthless

Find THE RIGHT UROLOGIST, it took me 19 yrs. After four TURPS and one PVP.

A urologist once said to me that  PSA testing is PSA terrorism.

Why PSA are worthless?  Isn't it a way to confirm that u have prostatis? My doctor diagnosed clinically with the symptoms alone that I have chronic prostatis. Very hard yea 😭😭 I have pain in my scrotum and sometimes while ejaculatng I have pain and no morning wood. Does it sounds like prostatis? I heard even if ur pelvic floor gets tenses as well, and have these similar symptoms sad either way I'm doomed... can I get away from this problem? I'm just 26 😭

      Hi Derek,

Any suggestions for me fro my PSA test where my result is 0.5?

Isn't it a very low value for anyone who have prostatis?

No, it sounds really good. What did your doctor say about that level. Mine was 0.74 last time it was checked and I have not had prostatitis for several years.

Great, Mate. Actually , today only I took that test just to confirm for myself that what I have is chronic prostatis . But surprisingly my results came very normal. Even though I'm in antibiotics (cipro and Doxy) for the past 10 days. My symptoms are pain in left scrotum, sometime pain while ejacultion and no Morning wood ( this s**t scares me 😳wink. Hope all will be sorted out soon. FIngers crossed

Have you  looked at the symptoms for epididymitis ? That caused me pain in the left scrotum and testicle but there are other variations on it.

Are you in the UK ?

Cipro etc. are very dangerous and doctors have been told not to prescribe them for UTI’s, Prostatitis and keep them for life threatening conditions where the disease outweighs the risk. They have given me a type of neuropathy that I will never get rid of.

Ah yes, I took ultrasound scan which showed that my epidymytis looks fine. So my urologist clinically diagnosed me with chronic prostatis and prescribed these medicines. Is there any chance that whatever I'm having is also epidymitys?

I was guessing for pain that was not prostatitis. I found that surges of pain from epididymitis more painful that prostatitis.

It took me a while to realise the cause of my problem that doctors of course still deny. One even suggested that it was the genetic condition CMT.  I laughed and said it must have missed many generations and took 80 years to find me.

Every time I was prescribed it I started to get tendonitis even when in bed after heart surgery. It  eventually turned into a form of neuropathy in my lower left leg. That leg must have been effected more due to a childhood condition that left if thinner/weaker than the other.

HOw to test for epididymitis? I took scrotal ultrasound, that didn't show anything. Any other way to find it out?

I didn't ever take it for more than a week at a time. I was prescribed it about five times.

I tend not to take probiotics. I always seem to forget about the need for them. I found a very outdated container of them in the fridge the other day!

That is the best test after the doctors experienced feel of your testicle.

All sorts, doctor, three neurologists, orthopaedic consultants and a neuro surgeon as the change in gait has affected my lower back.......... or is that a separate problem no one can say.
