Chronic Prostatitis

I am 36. I have chronic prostatits for 18 years, that's half my life. My experience in the disease and treatment follows:

The pain is intense and cripling. I have to be in bed all the time. Intense spasms. Symptoms move from urethra to prostate, back, ass, testicles so when you feel you finished with a symptom there starts another. I also may have difficulty urinating and some time ejaculating. This condition has remained iddle for a total of 6 years out of 18 and whenever I feel it is gone I have a really good flare up the very next day. Idle means I am not in pain but I get to wet my pants after urinating.. That is the closest I can have to normal life. My sex life is not good because I get erectile dysfunction when chronic prostatits is active. When it moves to being idle there is a tendency for restoration of erectile capacity however it is clear to me that I do not respond to visual stimuli any more . Reason for ED is venous leakage. Location of pain is as such that I frequently check both my urinary system and intestines.

Findings: High bladder neck, non typical inflammation of colon, prostate has no infection

Medical checks so far: Urethroscopy, Colonoscopy. prostate, testical, bladder, kidney ultrasounds. urine and prostate fluid cultures.

All cultures have come back negative. Bladder ultrasound shows some urine remaining after fully urinating.

Experience with medication: I have used antibiotics, a-blockers, mesalazine for my intestines and cortizone (budecole). For ED I have used Viagra and Cialis.

When I have flare ups NO medication works to control the pain. Or it may work for some weeks and then all of a suddent stop working. Medication for ED seems to be effective provided my symptoms are either gone or are not too intense. Symptoms come and go and it seems I cannot really control them.

Psychological impact: I am desperate and seriously considering suicide when I have flare ups

Social impact: No friends left. I do not have the energy to move out of bed

Fertility: Thankfully no problems whatsoever. However I am extremely worried whether my offspring will have the same problems as I do.

That's all

Got to go to the toilet again...

    Maybe try laxatives.

I found a solution that works for me.  I had problems about 15 years ago and was on doxazosin for a few years and antibiotics for a bit.  My problems went away and I stopped taking doxazosin.  I've also had diarrhea for years.  The begining of this year my problems came back.  What I changed this year was I stopped taking Nexium and instead was taking generic Tums as needed.  I also lost a bunch of weight and started exercising and lifting weights.  As my stools returned to normal and my prostate issues became worse.  I also started back on doxazosin the begining of this year.  So I've had issues for about 10-11 months and they progresively got worse. They were real bad the past month.  What I started to realized a week ago is the harder my stools got the worse my issues were.  So I stopped taking the Tums and started back on Nexium.  And voila my diarrhea returned and prostate issues got much better almost right away and seem almost completely gone 1 week later.

I'm not suggesting to start taking Nexium,  but to take laxatives or whatever to loosen your stools / cause diarrhea may help.  To me it's the far lesser of two evils.  Especially those of you with severe issues that are already affecting your day to day lives.  If it works you should probably talk to your doctor about the risks of taking laxatives long term.  Let me know if you try this and let me know how it turns out.

I have a very weird case. It has 2 moths since i have this chronic nonbaterial problem. I have basically no pain though i sometime feel it for a second and thats it. The problem was really bas during first few weeks but after that it got a lot better and i only used to feel inflammation for couple of hours a day. There were no headaches, back pain finished. I had felt little pain at the begnning in my penis but that also finished or became too mild after a week. Now i am having some urinary problem but i dont have to run frequently at night and its not too urgent or weak stream. I also go to urinate only 7 times against the 8 times which is the main figure for this symptom. No my inflammation duration has laso increased but this has happened before also and then gone down. i cant have baterial prostatitis becuase I am only 14. I got it because of masturbation but prostatitis happens due to frequent masturbation but I usually msturbated 2 or 3 times a week. the urine coming out has decreased since lasst couple of days. I have a question also. Does this urinary problem have any affect on kidney sicne i have not heard anywhere that this happens. And do i need to go to doctor considering my mild symptoms.
