Chronic Prostatitis would removing Prostate cure.

Having had Chronic Prostatitis for 2.5 years with continual urine infections and constant pain in Prostate, Penis and Testicles and numerous A/B , plus had a TURP which lead me to E/D and Incontinence, would it be better to be rid of the Prostate or what other risks would exist ?.   Going through 28 days of Intravenous A/B attending hospital daily just now, and arms now aching on 4th day. Drs say they would not remove a Prostate unless it is bad with Cancer, and can't find out why.

Hey Tractor, sorry for the slow response, I have been busy getting all of my stuff set up for the procedure.

So yes I am in th U.S however insurance will not pay for the FLA procedure I am going to have done. It is $21,000 U.S upfront. But I gotta say if it works its money well spent.

I sent the the same to the DNA testing place Tuesday, to see exactly what infection(s) I have in my prostate. Hopefully after the Doc does the FLA procesure, he can inject the exact antibiotic into the prostate, and kill any infection, that survived the laser ablations.

It is a lot of money and somewhat of a gamble, but you only have one prostate, so just hang in there, and see if it works  for me. This maybe the saving grace for all of us with chronic prostatitis. We can only hope.

Had a meeting with my Consultant this morning and he has agreed to remove my Prostate by Robotic surgery in 12 weeks time. He again stated he did not like to remove a healthy prostate, but as it had Cancer but not active it was justifiable. Said incontinence would be a problem for maybe 12 months, but I said no problem as I stopped using pads on 1st Jan this year after my TURP twelve months ago, so I can do it again. Advised regarding E/D but as nothing now I can be no worse. He agrees that removal of Prostate should take infections away and stop any blockage for passing water and only need a catheter at the time of the op for 14 days to allow healing but could be longer as there may be repair stitching to be done after the previous TURP  work. Will never need another Prostate Biopsy and the chance of Sepsis again,  Hooray .

Looks like a busy few months as he hopes I can get my new left knee ( TKR ) in the next 12 weeks before his op and as I will not be too active it then will suit to slow me down after the Prostate is gone for better recovery. More worried about the Circumcision to be done with the Prostate op, Just got to get the teeth fitted to my Dental implants in March.   Looks like a busy time but hopefully after this I won't need a hospital bed for a long, long time and when I want to pass water there will be nothing to block the pipe and Prostatitis won't be in my vocabulary.

Will let you know what happens.

Well it is gone now and operation was a success with only 2 days in hospital and 5 small incisions . Surgeon decided not to circumsize as he felt I would now be rid of infection. Catheter in for 2 weeks and then go for a Cystagram to see all is sealed, if so and can pass water OK it will be removed. Prostate had grown back and partially blocking bladder.  Cancer is gone as well, so be interested in the post mortem on the Prostate.
