Ave had sinusitis for the past 5yrs, i suffer depression. It started in my first yr In college. I spent most of it in hospital did surgery they pumped me full of drugs there which made me Depressed after a couple of years i tried to manage it buh after a few weeks of being fine i get a sinus attack. Managing depression and sinusitis was very hard for me. I eventually graduated clearing all my papers and graduating with my mates buh i graduated with a 3rd class, i gym and swim regularly to fight the depression and started bodybuilding buh the 3rd class degree made me feel so useless am thinking of doing another surgery. Just hope this depression wont finally push me into killing myself. I have met alot of ENT's buh taking it just makes me weak and depressed. I dont know what to do anymore. I ave been praying for 5yrs for this to go now+ treatments buh nothing worked.

Kobi..........I know here your coming from, its is sad, the doctor here told me its in the same category as heart desease and arthritis, so we arent the only ones that are sick, fight as hard as u can I am. What are u doing now for relief ? I drink prob 15 glasses of water a day, I use to bath daily now I shower, I also took 600mg of Ibuprofen fro I think 8 days and seemed to take 1/2 of the pressure away, so now I just take it when its really bad, I also take a perscribed acid reflux medication morning and night. I am beleiving its related to acid flowing up into our sinuses at night. I just bought Oreganum they say it helps inflamation, 1st day, yesterday. Again what are u taking......FYI I use to be a runner.....not anymore, so u arent the only one

Who has told you antibiotics do not help? that is only true if the sinusitis is consequence of a virus. If a consequence of a bacteria it helps and quickly. I can even ensure this to you. I have had probably more than 70 repeated bouts and they always finished fast after an antibiotic. Just because most people recover from them without need them is totaly irrelevant here, if they have recovered they would not be here reading us. I mean whoever is on this forum has already passed weeks, month or years anything explained in the acute sinusitis page on patient.info and if you are in our situation I make you aware that I really doubt that page is suitable to help us or help you.

Mi first symptoms were by the end of the XX century, it went and it come back for years untill it went out of control by 2013 and it did improve in August 2014 and the resolution came after a surgery last November, I can reply and fight with you but I utterly know how you feel and I am no here trying to look smart, I am no interested. I see that your case is different to mine or Kobi yet I can give you some ideas. I have no problems to apologise if you felt patronised. May I?

Your fin,e I can stand up for myself...and yes they are different, antibiotics use too much can cause colitis.

Well stand for yourself but I was very clear in my statement. There is a percentage of people that it helps and if I say it helped me is because it did, I have been  taking antibiotics for years and I am glad is over but I would do it again.

Well, at least I can tell you that if antibiotics do help in your case, what you should do is look for the reason that it makes you prone to develops bouts. To start if after he first surgery the infection comes and go with antibiotics curses that is absurdely called in the UK repeated bouts. That makes a lot of trouble because the information in the NHS is of very low quality.

I went through the same so I would accept privates messages but you need to understand I come from a total different medical culture I do not assume that doctors are right and I push and I question with no mercy for reasons and evidence.

My first question would be, so they have come back. Have they done further analysis why they came back? New ct scan and extremely important "allergy test". Sinus infection are consequence to different factors which you have to atack all. My first advice would be: it is your duty to unify the differents doctors opinion in the search of a solution. But I can read you do not feel well, have you got a bout right now and in which city are you?  I made the post "First results after a big fuss" if you can read it and find some orientation. Remember we are not doctors but I went through that nitghmare and I came out of it.

Maddyjakie said in chronic sinusitis anti-boitics dont work because after taking it, it still comes back, buh if you have an acute one than lucky you. For instance Thick yellow mucus always comes out of my nose even in public very embrassing cos some times i dont even notice my doctor said am lucky it coming out instead of flowing backwards apple cyider vinegar help reduce this mucus buh i wish there was a permanent cure. My immune system isnt so stronge anymore due to the amount of drugs i ave taken. Am on anti-biotics again am feeling beta buh i know it wont last long would try ibroprufen thou after the anti-boitics. I had acte sinusitis before it became chronic acte sinusitis is like a reoccuring cold i didnt see it ass a problem until i stopped breathing and was rushed to the hospital. The x-ray showed the cavities in my face were filled with mucus that was why i couldnt breath.

I am interested because what you describe is similar to what happened to be, permanent purulent discharge, short term effectivity of antibiotics and then relapse. I repeat my questions: where are you and did they test allergies in your case?

Nigeria, i did tests its chronic sinusitis the ENT dr. Did them. Am allegric to dust and i have lost my sense of smell due to congeation.

I have to tell you that allergic rhinitis is now considered the main reason for having repeated infections. The short term solution is to enquire to and ENT more and I mean really more potent antiallergic sprays or medication, of course I will not suggest any  because I am not a doctor. To give you an example I started on something called nasonex, It did not work, they had to give me other spray and then 6 month later top this up with another spray but it bloody paid well.

I utterly recommend to you trynna get into an immunotherapy treatment but I have not clue if you have that in there either.

Because my case is very, very similar I will quote my doctor who told me clearly that without allergy control would not be cure, so your first step is to look for an doctor specialised in allergies or ask to be referred to an ENT with studies in immunotherapy and allergies.
