chronic stomach pains

I've been in pain now for about 4 months, like, everyday. I feel as though there is a very tight belt around my mid section. It doesn't make me feel nauseous really, it just hurts quite a lot.
It doesn't seem to be there in the mornings, but throughout the day it will emerge and it will more often be at its worst in the evenings. It feels as though there is someone's fist in my stomach, like I've swallowed a rock or something.
My doctor didn't suspect that it was an ulcer, or cancer. I had a lot of blood tests that suggested that I am "fine"... which was great news I suppose. I am currently on Omeprazole tablets 20mg I think, I take 4 a day of those. To be quite honest I don't think they're doing a damn thing.
I don't drink or smoke, I don't do any drugs blah blah blah. I eat a fairly well balanced diet. Since this whole thing begun in September I fluctuated between eating and not eating at all for how much I was worried about myself.
I am truly at a loss. I am booked in to see a specialist GI doctor on the 14th of January... which is bullsh*t. I have to put up with feeling like this over the christmas period. What fun. But this pain has become my new normal, so whatever I guess.
Does anyone on this site have any suggestions? Anything at all?

Probably about the same time andy's post made it to this site, I finally got relief from my stomach pains that made me feel nausea and I couldn't eat anything but bread products to feel better. I had to forget about trying to eat fresh fruits and vegetables. Out went the daily decaf coffee. I got tested for the H.pylori and it was negative. I was scoped at both ends and nothing was unusual. I tried acid reflux meds, but they didn't do anything. The internalist I went to told me he was going to try a drug that used to be used for depression. It's amitriplin and they found it calmed nervous stomachs. I didn't have much faith and was told to give it at least 5 to 6 weeks to get the full effects since it has to build up in your system. I notice results right away. The tight band that everyone talks about? When I got on the amitriplin, I found that it was trapped gas right around my ribcage. I felt so uncomfortable, I had to sit straight up so it wouldn't bother me so bad. The amitriplin relieved that and I found I could burp and get relief.
But, all good things must come to an end. After several years of being able to eat and drink most everything, I may have to give it up. For the past two weeks, I have been plagued with heart palpitations. I thought it was because I'm low on magnesium, but taking a liquid supplement of that hasn't stopped them. I thought I need more rest, but that doesn't seem to be the case. The next thing I'm going to try is going off the amitriplin as I read on the internet that it can cause heart and liver damage. I am going to hate this because if I miss one dose, I feel nauseous and just about anything I eat or drink will start bothering me again. Meanwhile, I have a doctor's appointment in a week about the palpitations. By then, I should know if it is the amitriplin causing it.
The main point that I have here, is that I have a nervous digestive system and the tight band is the cause of trapped air. But if I had to do it again, or if I can somehow keep taking the drug, I'm going to feel so fortunate.
Does anyone know anything about biofeedback?
