Cialis as a treatment

I'm curious if anyone has any experience using Cialis as a treatment for BPH? Any "unpleasant" side effects?

Yes I've tried Cialis. it helps somewhat as does Viagra. I found prolonged use gave me joint pain. I tried supplements as well but with limited success.

My BPH symptoms were finally fixed completely three months ago when I had a PAE.

The Cialis and supplements and Flomax just play around the edges of the problem. The PAE fixed the problem.

Be very very careful in going to a urologist ....they will usually reccomend a biopsy which in my case made my BPH symptoms ten times worse. Then they will reccomend a TURP a barbaric procedure which has a hood chance of leaving you in continent and impotent.

Think outside the square,..do your research.

I was on tamsulosin for about eight months and was not happy with the side effects so switched to Cialis 5mg to see if it would be better. It seemd to aid the BPH symptoms but after a month I was experiencing the absolute worst case of acid reflux. I mean it was non stop so I had to cease use. This side effect is not mentioned in the package so I just Googled Cialis and acid reflux and bingo seems like it is fairly common side effect.

My urologist had me try it.  20 mg once a day.  Did nothing for my prostate.  It's suppose to relax the bladder.  Hated flomax too The side effects were the pits.  Had a Urolift in April  Been great.  Take care  Ken

Big Pharm has squashed an mention of this but the REALITY is Cialis, like the other similar drugs opens up veins to increase the flow of blood to the penis.  That's find...BUT....right next door is the anus and I've found that Cialis opens up the veins around the anus too causing hemorrhoids.  Ane they stay around a long time and it ain't worth the hassle for days after.  All the docs say it ain't so - but I know...I take Cialis its gonna do its job on my tailpipe too.  The big secret....last thing big pharm wants people to know.

I've used the low dose daily Cialis for several months with no side effects. I have a penile implant, which works great, so I don't know how it might help you have an erection. I still have BPH , but who knows how bad it would be without the Cialis.

Anyone had side effects like severe back pain or leg pain? I was breaking a 20mg tab in half for a week and after a fairly light job setting tile, I could barely stand up the next day. I stopped taking it, getting better after 2 days but the pain in my legs hasn't left yet. Drugs...fix one thing, create another problem.

I used the daily low dosage instead of Flomax for a while and had better results with it than Flomax. But like Flomax, the results diminished somewhat over time. Unlike Flomax, no negative sexual side effects like retograde ejaculation, in fact you get some of the positive side effects that Cialis is usually prescribed for. But yes, some negative side effects which are common to this class of drugs, including viagra such as occasional light headedness. You will know after you take it for awhile.

To be exact, my daily dosage of Cialis was 5mg. Studies show this as th optimum dosage for bph. After a week or so this gives you a constant level equivilant to around 7.5mg of Cialis in your blood. So I'd give it a few weeks to see how it works, athough you should see most of the effects in around 5-7 days.

You said: The only problem I see in this is taking a drug to counter the side effects of another drug. Could be risky over time.

Not sure what you mean by this. What drug do you have in mind? Daily Cialis generally replaces another drug (Flomax for example) rather than counters the side effect of another drug.

Just a comment, not ment to be more than that. Refers to the addition of Prilosec to counter the Cialis caused acid reflux. I personally have become a little suspicious of the Pharmasuitical Industry. Not sure where you are from but here in the USA we are constantly bombarded with adds for drugs.

Thanks for the clarification. I've been taking several classes of acid reduces/blockers for years because of reflux. As with many people, I have various reflux triggers, including some foods and certain medications. Prilosec is a PPI (protein pump inhibitor) and the nice thing about it is that it doesn't intrerfere with the absorption of some medications like a simple antacid might. I hear you about being overly medicated, but with me it's also weighing risks versus rewards, and at the time I decided it was important for me to give daily Cialis a chance, and part of that process was getting rid of the heartburn.
