I take citalopram 30mg I started off straight on 20mg which is very high but luckily apart from feeling a bit sick I didn’t experience any dizzy side effects I’m only small (43kg 5’2) and was worried I would suffer side effects but I was fine. I suffer from anxiety and depression and these tablets have helped me so much I hope you can give them a try and it can help you as well.

I have not personally experienced dizziness on starting these drugs, or on increasing them. I don't recall experiencing dizziness on reducing them, either, and I think the trick is to do it really slowly.
If you are worried about dizziness as a possible side effect, you could always titrate up very slowly and see how you go.... some people even start at 2.5mg for a couple of weeks, to gradually introduce the citalopram into their system.
On balance, even though I ha e had SOME side effects, citalopram has been a life saver for me.

Hello Scott,
I am a dizzy person, unsure if anemia, menopause or anxiety causing it. Certainly made me anvious.
i started cit a week ago. I did 4 days at 10mg and felt terrible and more dizzy. I had a day off and then did 2 days at 2.5mg and today I increased to 5mg. If I continue to feel ok, I plan to stay at 5mg for at least a few week and then do up very slowly if needed. Hopefully that will I won't take more than I need.
Good luck

Hey Scott,
I started 2/24 with10mg. I had some side effects and went to 5 mg fir a week and back to 10mg and still at it. It had been a lifesaver for me. I didn’t get dizzy but I did get other side effects. The people here have helped me immensely through my process. I’m thinking this will help with your dizziness.
I’m living my life again. I’ve had anxiety so many years. I wish I found this drug years ago. Good luck with your decision.
I had the prescription filled in December and looked at the bottle for a month and then finally took my 1st pill. I know what your going through. Keep us posted of what you decide.

Thanks, my daily anxiety symptoms include, nausea, deporsonalisation, fatigue, unbalanced sensations etc....wonder if yourself or anyone on here saw there symptoms dissapear once the Cit settles in your system. still havent quite built up the courage to start the meds as i really dont want to feel any worse than i do most days. feels like a gamble i will have to take to know for sure. i'd be over the moon if they actually worked in some capacity for me.

Scott I am currently on 4 weeks of celexa. I had all the side effects for the first 3 weeks. Nausea does go away. It was horrible for me in the mornings. I think not sleeping made everything worse and my sleep is slowly improving. My only worry is that I am still extremely nervous and wondering if I will actually get some kind of relief from all these feelings. I feel like I am waiting to just feel at peace but I also know it doesn't happen overnight and I have to put in the work as well.
Make sure to MOVE everyday. Go for a walk, drink a ton of water, avoid caffine, meditate, journal, read a book to get your mind off things, talk on the phone with a friend. Do things that relax and ease your mind. I hope you start to feel relief of your side effects soon and give it 3 to 4 weeks. It WILL go away

Ditto jazmin I’m on week 24 and yes all the side effects subside. Keep a journal it really helps to look back and see how well you progressed. What mg are you on I started with 10 went to 5 and went back up to 10 where I’m at today!

Yes Scott the side effects do subside. Start at a low dose 5 mg for a week or 2 and then see how you are. I’ve talked with some people who have stayed at 5. I’m at 10mg on week 24. The first few weeks were a little hard but everyone here helped me tremendously! I could not have done it without them. Keep us posted what you decide.

will20275 I’m on 10mgs. I was on 20 mgs before. I dropped to 10 mgs and than got off of them. That only lasted a few months till I couldn’t take it anymore. I’m praying 10 mgs is all I need. I’m thinking of giving it a couple more weeks to see if I get better and start to feel some relief😀

Do you feel calm and symptom free once the Citalopram has been accepted by your system as I'm restless 24/7..........

Great Good luck and make sure you eat and drink a glass of water with it. Are you taking it in the AM? You must be on pill #2. How are you doing?
