I had my left hip replaced 7 weeks ago and everything has been fine.I am having pain in my right hip and think this will need doing soon.I don't know if it's my imagination but a couple of times in the last couple od days I am sure I have heard my new hip click, but don't know if it's mys imagination and the click has come from my right hip.Has anyone else experienced this. I am due to see the consultant on Friday and hoping everything is ok.

I think I'd rather it was the other hip, IΒ don't want this misplaced ceramic to shatter now after two operations. Β Β Β

Not certain, but it may not be as bad replacing ceramic on ceramic as it used to be - I'mthinking as an engineer here.
The ceramic head is just slipped onto the metal stem that is sitting firmly in your leg bone, and the ceramic insert sits in the metal cup that is firmly attached to your pelvis, so I don't see why they'd have to replace the metal parts, just put in new ceramic bits?
In the old days, the stem and head were one-piece, so wear of the head meant replacing all of it. Β The ceramic parts are made to standard fittings now, so I would hope that there is some hope of interchangability at least with the same manufacturer's newer parts.
Like I say, not talking from experience, just engineer's 'common sense', but then where did common sense come into this wonderful 'easy procedure'?

That would be good Sue, we all understand everybody comes to have THR for different reasons, and with very different journeys.
Best wishes

if so, it could be the illiopsoas tendon.
make sure you mention it to your surgeon, but apparently there is no problem with it unless it is causing pain.
but he will know better for sure.
