clicking in hip 8 weeks after hip replacement

Posted , 19 users are following.

I am 36 years old and had a hip replacement 8 weeks ago. The op seems to have been a success and I am in no pain now and am delighted with the results. The only thing is I've noticed a slight click when I move in certain ways. Has anyone else had this and is it normal?

Thanks for starting this thread. Six weeks today thp left leg. The last three nights in bed, a sort of cramp in thigh and then an almighty clonk. Now have the click. Can't yet walk without a stick. Terrible gait. But can walk several miles with stick, without putting pressure on the stick. Am I just impatient? Cheers Ray.

    hi everyone

I'm 8 weeks post surgery. I had posterior total hip replacement and I have also getting a weird feeling in my leg for a few weeks now. it's hard to describe but feels like something is moving or crossing over something in my thigh , hip area. it's really strange but there's no pain. it happens quite often many times a day and usually when that leg is straight and I move it. sometimes it scares me as it can be quite a jolt movement. I've been trying to research on my own but I wonder if I should go back to my surgeon as I don't want to cause any further damage if something is wrong. any thoughts?

oops I replied further down. I wonder if any of this is caused by only certain artificial hip implants. I don't even know what material mine is made of. they never told me and my post OP appt was screwed up when they scheduled it and confirmed it for the wrong day and time. I texted them my appt. card as proof as they were acting like I had it wrong instead of them. so therefore I never seen my Dr. post- op. I was so done with their bull. I had planned to ask him about this weird issue but now I don't think I'll be going back to him because of his incompetent staff who p****d me off. Don't know what to do or if it's serious. I described my issue further down in this discussion. sorry I talk too much sometimes. lol

Hi, I've had my hip for over 26 years, with 3 revisions on it. Your new hip is in the process of settling. Its a pretty traumatic operation to the bones and muscles. I'd say just give it time to heal and that should subside. take care, God bless!

Wow, I am 9 weeks post revision (my hip popped out 2x) & there is a click that I hear plus feel when going up stairs. I have RA & am 60 . very upsetting as my pain is present. Due to meds I am immunosuppressed. I will call the surgeon. This is frustrating.

    Hi @lucyloo4,

It's been a few years since you posted. Did the clicking stop for you? If so, roughly when?

Like many, I'm here because three weeks ago I had a full HR (ceramic head) and it's gone well aside from the odd, slightly concerning click.

Anyway, you were active with replies so I'm trying my luck to see if you have an update for us. I really hope you are delighted still.

As others have said we are rather lucky in this country with the medical facilities and expertise!

    Take care, all.

    Rob
