Clothes I need in Hospital
Posted , 16 users are following.
Have had my pre-op, waiting for my admission date (in Wales that can be many months away) but anyway, any hints from ladies out there who have had the op, as to the best clothes to take to hospital? Sorry guys, close your eyes for a second, for instance knickers ?? I'm planning on wearing track pants but what about underwear and night clothes? Any hints gratefully received.
Madeleine.

I had the 7 1/2 weeks ago and I'll give u and idea of what I needed.im in Ireland and had to stay in for 5 days. Nightdresses are much easier than pyjamas as bending is not possible and you'd need a grabber/ dressing stick or someone to help with Amy bottoms. This includes tracksuit bottoms etc. I'd highly recommend that u bring a grabber / dressing aid with you to hospital for this purpose and for picking anything up.
Basically I needed : plenty nightwear and undeies wear :as shower and changed each day
Loose tracksuit bottoms and top and comfortable trainers or slip ons.maybe 2
Light dressing gown; ( hospitals v warm)
Best of luck,
Cliodhna 😊

i too too am in Wales. In the south. What you wear depends on time of year you go in. I wouldn't bother with the track bottoms. It is way too warm for those. You need cotton clothing PJ's etc. Yes Knickers but you need high leg so they don't rub your wound and you won't catch the wound with your finger nails when you have to pull up or down or change them. I didn't bother with clothes except when I was going home. Just wore t shirts and PJ bottoms. You could wear your track bottoms for going home in. But I wouldn't wear them on the ward. Cotton t shirts or tops to help keep you cool too foot wear better to get Velcro trainers rather than slippers for footwear. Hope that helps.

Nurses want to inspect cut site to check for any infections, bleeding, and you may also have a catheter, easier just to hike to nightie.
A lightweight brunch coat, for over nightie, so when they walk you in the corridor you have a little more covering.
Crocs, turn the heel strap over your instep, easy to just step in and out of, you can buy really cheap copy cat brands that will do for the short while you need them, I never used the wear them, now you can't get me out of them, sooo ugly but sooo comfortable for around the house wear.

See my website for a list of things that you could find handy in hospital, and at home. The address is below, in my personal details, and in the moderator's topic on Useful Resources.
Basically, loose clothing is best to avoid rubbing on the dressing after the operation.

With only one small bed locker I gave my day clothes back to my partner to bring in when I went home and filled the space with chocolate!
