Codeine addiction and withdrawal

Hi all i have been a codeine addict for 4 years now all started with a simple back injury at home a trip to the doctors and cocodmil 30/500 priscribed.

After a few week/couple month my back was better so stopped taking them I can't remember if i felt ill because I didn't know the dangers or about addiction at this time but my back went again so yet again doctor gave me these tablets 100 of them. I was on these for 3/4 month when I stopped I felt horrible sweats.rls.cant sleep all the withdrawal things so I took 2 tablets with in half hr I felt fine that's when I hit Google and found out the truth about these tablets.

Since then I have been taking them no more than 12 a day still a lot I know.

Anyway for a codeine addict like me 12 tablets over 4 years how do I approach the withdrawal.

Please help me get off these I have already tries taper plan and failed.

Thanks x

    Hi Lena,

I have been taking co codamol 30/500 4x Adam for the past 5 years. For some odd reason I decided to quit, not because I knew the side effects or I thought I was addicted, actually didn't even know that addiction existed with these meds.

I know you're on 12 a day so I would suggest for you to cut down to at least 4/6 a day and then try cold turkey. I am currently on day 7 of being clean and it has not been that much a deal to be honest. I am smoker too so I noticed that I am smoking much less then what I used to.

You can do it!!! I feel great at day 7 and have had no regret at all. I feel more awake, more energy and I think I have started to lose weight 😊

So take each day at a time, reduce one tab a day so for a week just take 11 a day then the next week take another one off and so on.. you'll pat yourself on the back once done!!!

    Good luck 😊
