Codeine cold turkey help

Posted , 22 users are following.

Hi all I've been taking codeine based products for 3 years now starting 8 a day now upto 15 a day maybe more.

No one knows about my addiction.

I did go to the doctors a year ago who put me on a taper plan it worked to start then I went back to square one so now it's time to cold turkey.

I have constipation, tummy ache, and mood swings all the time also have gained weight.

I really need people's help with this any advice from people who have done cold turkey.

I don't want to do suboxone or other things on just want to get back to the fun mum I was before I started taking these horrible things.

I started taking them for back pain which as gone I'm pain free it's just an addiction.

Thanks guys

    Hi lb,

Hope you are well? And able to help me with some advice.

I have been taking co-codamol 30/500 for over a year 6 tabs a day!( I know it doesn’t seem a lot however my withdrawals are crazy!) I started them as I had back pain however no one Knows only the person who gave me some at the beginning who thinks my back is fine due to my lies to cover my addiction!

I have tried cold turkey several times but cave after a few hours!

I have currently been abroad for nearly two weeks  and I am due to go home tomorrow however I ran out of co-codamol two days ago!

After the panic of knowing I don’t have any left came these ridiculous withdrawals: sweats, headaches, insomnia, restless, agitated and stomach ache! (I am currently experience all of these just now!!!)

Can someone please help me with withdrawal ease of some sort or advice I feel so helpless and have never experienced anything like this!

I am only a young lad who has ended up stuck on these “painkillers” however I am determined to stay off them as I go through my withdrawals for the 3rd day (today)!

Please can use all give me as much advice as possible! I have been reading through everyone’s messages and these have helped so much to motivate me!

    Please help.

Hello Everyone my name is Tina,

This is my first post as I stumbled on this site when googling the withdraw symptoms of Tylenol and Codine tablets that I have been taking for over 20 years! I started taking these pills due to intense headaches and regular Tylenol wasn’t strong enough, so I discovered back then that you could buy Tylenol with Codine over the counter at any drugstore without a doctors prescription, and that’s where it all stared for me. I’m happy and proud to say it’s been three weeks now that I am pill free and even happier to have found this site!! I did it cold turkey and the withdraw symptoms were pretty brutal from full body pain for days, to terrible headaches, sweats, chills, nausea, loss of appetite, stomach cramping and severe diarrhea! I am three weeks in and still have diarrhea and still have not had a solid bowel movement. If anyone knows or has advice on how long the diarrhea lasts I would appreciate the information. I always drink plenty of water and I’m a healthy eater when I have an appetite. Thank you! And sending positive vibes to all who are on this great forum fighting for your health, your quality of life and the strength to kick this terrible addiction to the curb where it belongs. ??🙏??
