Colonoscopy today

I had my first colonoscopy today. I'm 20 years old and have been getting admoninal pain and blood in stools. I was very nervous to say the least, not knowing any one of my age to have this done. I was given the Moviprep to clear me out and honestly, it was horrid! tastes like lemon sherbet and salt. I took the first litre the night before my procedure and I could not stop gagging! I was on the loo for about an hour and half and I don't mean to be crude but when it starts working - its like you're weeing out of your bum lol! The day of my procedure, I took the next litre in the morning, I found it a lot easier to drink it as I knew what I was expecting.

Going into the hospital, I was even more nervous. Once I got into the room where they do it, I was shaking but the nurses was very helpful and polite. Once I was given my sedation, I honestly cannot remember a thing, I don't know if it hurt as I don't remember (which is probably a good thing) Next thing I know, I'm waking up in my bed in a little room. I felt like I had drunk quite a bit of alcohol and was very groggy. My stomach could not stop growling and I was confused to whether it was wind or just hunger after not being allowed to eat for 24 hours. Anyway, I was given some tea and toast which was heaven! My bum is a little sore still, I'm passing quite painful wind and still have a bit of water coming out my bum which I'm assuming is quite normal after having a colonoscopy and not enough food to pass down just yet!

So my experience was better than I expected, I have to wait a week for my results as biopsies was taken so I'm still a little nervous on that side but the worst of it is done! I would just say I never want to drink Moviprep again though...
