Coming of Co-Codamal 30/500 day four

Hi everyone,

I have been taking the highest dose of co-codomal for quite a few years now but I changed anti-depressants a while back and I believe that the codeine was interacting with the the anti-depressants so I stopped the codeine straight and I am on day four and my head feels all over the place, like I feel out of it.....not part of this world. It is a really scary feeling and I am scared I am not going to feel better.

I know people have a lot of physical symptoms but has anyone out there had mental symptoms also?

Thanks so much

Sean

Sean, I'm on anti depressants too and thought the same as you. I suppected the Co codamol was making me have really dips in my mood that would make me so low then take me days or weeks t start feeling a little better. I think if you sometime take eight co codamol a day and then other days don't take as much it affects your mood and makes you more depressed. Day five of absolute hell. Feel mentally and physically unstable.

      Hi Lynda,

Sorry I just saw you wrote this message too. I am convinced that the anti-depressants are affected in a negative way if you take too much codeine. I used to take like 3 x 30/500 tablets at a time because I have build up a tolerance to them.

You should be proud that you have got this far....we are both at the same stage so don't give up okay! We can both do this I know we can. We are nearly over the worst of it. They say day 3-5 are the worst. The longest I have felt crappy for is 13 days but that was so unusual as most of the time I will feel better after a week or less. Its weird as no matter how many times I go through cold turkey, I always seek re-assurance because it feels so bad. Don't give up x

      Hi Lynda,

I promise with all my heart that there is a light at the end of this tunnel and its not far away. I have been down to my darkest times because of this and I too could not see a way out but I got better. It is just your mind telling you that you are not going to get better but you will wake up one morning feeling so much better I promise.

Does your doctor know that you have come off these tablets?

He knows I've stopped the co codeine but not the gabapentine.

Maybe tell them Lynda as it may put your mind at ease. I only know about the codeine as I have been through this before but I don't know about that other drug you are taking but you must be going through double withdrawal so no wonder you are feeling so bad. It WILL pass though!

Gabapentin is an antiseizure medication, if it can "rewire" an "abnormal" brain, what will it do to a "normal" brain? I urge you to google it if you havnet already. Ihave used this in the past and it gave me quite alot of unwanted side effects. I have clients who use this and the twitch uncontrollably without realising, one even taking seizures, something she had never had before.

Yes, paranoia being my main issue, not trusting people etc, this makes me want to drink which then makes me want codeine....vicious circle bud

Its horrible man....I am metally exuasted and just want to sleep and not wake up but I don't think this is all the codeine causing this, I am sure the anti-depressants are now having more of an effect since stopping the codeine and we all know anti-depressants make you feel worse when you first start taking them.
