I would recommend going down abit slower than that. U have been on it for so long so by tapering to fast will be to much of a shock. If u do it slowly over a few months your system will get used to it so won't be to much of a shock to u. I would say go down and stay on the lowered dose for 4-6 weeks each time so u get used to it. Hope that helps x

    Hello

I would say that's far too quick to come off.

Are you on any Sertraline at all now?

I came off 50mg over 3 months and barely got any side effects, except mild ones towards the end and I was irritable.

At the time, I was posting on here and people had said they were coming off cold turkey. They felt quite ill for a week or so but it did stop.

As it's been two weeks it's difficult to know the correct thing to do. I found that pharmacists are much more knowledgeable than doctors so maybe phone a couple at open chemists to get their advise.

I did a few times and got much better advice and reassurance then the doctors.

It seems your options are to continue again with setraline, maybe take 25mg for a month, then I would take 25mg & 12.5mg on alternate days for the next month, then 12.5mg a day for following month and then 12.5mg every other day for a month and then off.

Or, continue as you are, hopefully have no longer then a week of feeling terrible and then you should hopefully start feeling better gradually over next few weeks until you feel back to you.

Were you def ready to come off them? Are you having any bad thoughts?

I would think as u have been off them for 2 weeks already, if u started sertraline again u would be back to square one with the start up side effects. I agree with yorkshirenu should go to pharmacist or back to docs to discuss it with them. U should settle soon though as your system has to get used to having nothing as u were on sert for 11 yrs. pls let me know how u get on and I wish u well x

Hi Gail, I agree with everyone else, far to quick to come off of Sertraline after so long!

As you've not taken them for 2 weeks I'm not sure what to do but if you are still feeling bad then it maybe a good idea to start taking a small dose to help your body overcome the withdrawal effects.. one thing I will say is, because you've been on Zoloft make sure you take 'Zoloft' as changing to a generic brand could give you worse side effects than you have now, see this link:
