Computer Screen Problems

Recently diagnosed w/menieres. Does anyone find that things like a computer screen or phone screen triggers vertigo episodes?? Is there anything that can be done to help this? I have to work on a computer all day. Also noticed driving causing issues from time to time.

Oh my goodness yes! I have to cover my eyes or look away! Does it ever get better? It isn't like this every day with the computer but it seems worse lately....like the last two weeks. I take 2mg valium 3x daily or more if needed, 1 benadryl, histamine phosphate drops, and meclizine as needed which has been a lot. I just got this dx a week or so ago so I'm new to it all...not liking it. Been dealing with it since last Nov though

It's a horrible condition, can be really debilitating sometimes and yes it does come and go. I'm on Serc tablets, or betahistine, but the branded Serc tablets work better. I'm not on anything else. I've been dx a few years ago and have a couple of treatments on my ear.

Are the tablets a prescription? The doctor did mention the gentamycin injections into the ear drum. My hearing is gone in my right ear and I have tinnitus which drives me crazy but I do believe cutting out caffeine has helped with the loudness of it. You are right...it can be dibilitating...I have had to literally crawl from the bathroom to the bed and have visited the ER because I couldn't keep anything down to stop the vomiting. Those are the episodes where the room spins. The other episodes are just movement...like a shifting of things...my eyes darting back and forth. And nobody has a clue what it is like unless they have experienced it!

I'm with you on those attacks, feels like your body is being thrown all over the place. Yes my tablets are prescription. I've had Grommits put in my ears, that only lasted for a year, then I had the Gentimycen injections. That seems to have helped, although I'm constantly dizzy and light headed I haven't had another full blown attack as yet.

Hmmm...maybe I will consider the injections. This low sodium deal is so hard for me. Not necessarily because I crave salt but I am such a picky eater!!! I never realized how loaded with salt that everything is until this. I thought maybe joining some groups like this would be good so I can see what kind of things that other more "veterans" of Menieres find to be helpful or not helpful. I know everyone is different.

Exactly, everyone is different, what works for one person might not necessarily work for another.  I've never really stopped taking salt but I have cut it down. I've stopped cooking with salt (I also got heart problems) and just add it at the table should I need it, plus I only use sea salt. I like to think it's a bit healthier, lol. I can vouch for the Gentamycin, it has hopefully worked for me, although my ENT doctor said would need more treatments. So far so good though I've only had some little spins which I can live with. Xx

Ok so one more question...for now...lol. Do the injections hurt??

i think so my ent advised me to minimize working on computer or phone but that is impossible because i'm an it consulting

It must be a problem for you having to work on computers all the time, I'm lucky I'm disabled (with something else) and at home so at least I can limit my use. I suppose all I can say is try to take frequent breaks if you can😄

Yes it is impossible for me as well...luckily I work from home so that I'm not in the big middle of an office when I have a terrible episode. That would be awful! Yesterday I went to get my child at school and got stuck there! I was okay when I left the house. My husband had to come get us. :-/

That is a good thing that you work from home, you can at least have a rest when you need it. I've had a few times when my husband has had to come for me. Once I was on my mobility scooter and just like you I was ok when I went out, then with no warning I started spinning. It was so bad I couldn't even see, I turned my scooter round to get some help, right into the path of an oncoming car. I didn't even see it, I was aware in the back of my mind of a car hooting but it was like I was in a dream. Everything turned out ok, my hairdresser took me home. These days I'm much more careful about going out alone, lol.

Oh wow...that definitely could have turned out bad! Mine hit me as soon as I was pulling into the parking lot...of course then I start having somewhat of a panic attack which only made it worse! I have no clue how I would've handled it if I had actually been driving down the highway. It's scary...maybe if I can get my issues to being fewer and far between then I can feel comfortable again going out on my own. It has happened to me in the grocery store too! So embarrassing...my 13 year old had to assist me in getting out of there...I'm sure I looked drunk...staggering all over the place.

I know, luckily I live in a very small village so most everyone knows me so at least I could get some help, lol.
