Constant Acid Reflux For 3 Weeks!

Hi,

ive vey had constant acid reflux for the last 3 weeks. I feel horrendous!

It it feels like I've drunk a whole bottle of vinegar. My throat is sore. It's making me feel miserable and there has been no restbite from it.

I've my diet and it's pretty much very alkaline and it's not bad any difference. I've reduced my portion sizes and spread my meals out and nothing- it's still there. Everytime I eat I have acid in my throat minutes after eating and it's there all day even when I've not eaten.

Ive  had a stool test for H. pylori(Helicobacter pylori) and it's come back negative. I've also had a blood test which came back fine.

My  doctor prescribed some 20mg ozerprazole which I took for a week. It did nothing. Went back to the doctors a week later and he upped it to 40mg. Another week later and that's not worked.

I went back back to the doctors today and he has given me some Lansoprazole. 15mg to start with for a week and if that doesn't do anything 30mg for a week.

He said if that doesn't clear things up he would have to refer me to the gastro people.

Does anyone know how long the referral process takes and what happens when you go and see them?

Also so does anyone have any tips to get rid of the vinegar taste in mouth.

Currently I'm drinking lots of water and chewing a lot of sugar free gum.

Thanks

Rob

Went to my docs yesterday and he gave me an oral liquid called Iberogast, apparently it works wonders for millions.I'm doing that and Nexium which seems to be the best. That low acid theory is wrong by the way, burning and pain is caused by our stomach acids getting into our gullets.

Took me 3 months to clear my acid reflux after strict diet off acid food n carbonated drinks. I only took PPI for a week and the side effects were so terrible. I even purposely installed alkaline filter to drink...all water in the market can be acid level too.

Hi Rob did you resolve your poblem?

I am 22 years old and have been suffering from Acid Reflux for about 8 months now. It has been on-going almost daily. After treating it with OTC meds I finally gave up and started looking about what is causing this acid reflux.

The results are linked to a certain disease which got me super stressed and scared. I immediately went to the doctor and explained what I have been feeling.

Bad taste at the back of my mouth, Stomache feels some what weird and bloated. Moreover throat most of the times feel irritated.

He asked me to do Endoscopy and Bioposy.

I am really scared that the results will show that it's something more serious!

I feel so stressed now that even with meds, the acidity won't go away at all.

I also have to say that I rarely consume diary products and poor vegtable dietry.

So now I am slowly of introudcing these to my diet.

Doctor said that worst case scenario it's a bacteria, but I still don't feel safe.

    Should I be concerned?

    I appreciate your opinions!

Hello Josh, may I ask if you have had any relief or solutions to your problem.  I am afraid that mine are quite similar and slated to go for endoscopy.  Scared of course.

This is nasty but i literally pour yellow mustard down my throat for relief and it works. If thats hard, choke it down on bread. You could try it!

Are you drinking coffee? I noticed when I drink any of the K-cups from Aldi, I get the same feeling.

A few things that help me are slippery elm tablets, alkaline water with a ph of 8 or over. I read that pepsin that should only be in the stomach is in your esophagus when you have reflux. Every time you have any food with any acid it activates the pepsin. I read that the alkaline water helps to kill the pepsin in your throat. I make green smoothies too and that helps a lot!

I’m at my wits end, every time I eat something it’s an hour later with the burning, 2 weeks of this has forced me to try and book endoscopy privately. Has anyone had acid reflux after everything they eat?

      Hi Matthew,

I have had the same problem for 3 weeks! I even have that feeling when I wake up before I have eaten anything!! I have stopped drinking wine, eaten less and sensibly etc, taking Lansoprazole which has made NO difference in two weeks, I can see this was posted a while ago, are you better now?

    Hi Rob,

I too have had indigestion for 3 weeks, I once tried Omeprazole which didn't wok, I have had 3 gastroscopies in the past, (last one was June this year) and although they all showed nothing serious, just mild gastritis, I can't help worrying about the empty feeling in my stomach, the same as when you haven't eaten for ages, but eating doesn't stop the feeling, I feel nauseous at times too, and just feel horrible, It's hard to sleep at night and I have to keep clearing my throat even though there is nothing coming up and no acid taste, I just feel as if I have had a sparkling drink and need to burp, I have stopped drinking wine and just have de caff tea and coffee but nothing seems to work, I have taken Lansoprazole for 2 weeks and also Gaviscon, I am eating all the right things and having dinner earlier so as not to feel bad at night but I still can't sleep! If I'm no better in 2 weeks time the Dr has said I can see a gastrologist This is all making me feel so miserable!
