Constant burping ...no pain or heartburn

I have been taking nexium for the past two weeks to relieve constant burping. I took some weight loss meds that i have since discontinued on the doctor's advice and i had vomited that particular day and suddenly i was burping all the time.
I do not believe the nexium is working ...my doctor says i need to take it for as little while longer.....Has anyone ever had constant burping like this ? Will i ever go back to normal? What can i do/take to stop this? It is driving me insane - like seriously . Could tking those pills for one day really cause this or the vomiting? I welcome ur help/advice..Thank : )

Hi Sara, not sure if your still visiting this site but wanted to comment on my experience with excessive uncontrollable burping. I was exposed to mold. After a year or so and subsequent exposures, I started belching. When it is bad, I belch up to 3 hours constantly. When it isn't bad, I belch throughout the day but not as much. It's still uncomfortable. Because I was exposed to mold, my lung movement became impaired. This felt like if I had taken a deep breath and held it in and could not relax my lungs to push the air out. In other words, my lungs were stuck in an over inflated /expanded position all of the time. When I have air in my stomach (bloated), I can feel the air pushing upward on my diaphragm preventing the diaphragm from downward movement when breathing in. The bloating pushes up on my diaphragm and my lungs have less room to expand. A CT scan confirmed that my lungs were over expanded. My lungs are a little better now, but not fully recovered as is evidenced by my impaired lung movement when I am bloated. After I intentionally burp, I can breathe easier. I find that when I lied down I breath the easiest. I believe this is because the air is pushing against the inside of my abdomen, not diaphragm.

If you do have peptic ulcer it will take more than 2 weeks to start seeing improvements. I know how worrying it can be but just stay on your meds and watch your diet. No fatty/spicy stuff. I wish you the best of luck.

I know this us an old post, but I wanted to try to help someone that has the same problem I did. I had constant burping for 4 and a half months straight! It was awful. No nausea. No pain. Just burping. I tried Gas X, Mylanta, Tums etc. I went to the Dr several times. Had all the tests, couldn't find a problem. I started taking a fiber supplement. Just the simple gummy ones. I took it for 2 days. On the 3rd day I woke up burp free! Now, maybe it was all coincidence but I thought maybe someone else would like to try. It's an amazing feeling when it finally goes away. Good luck!

Hi, no I didn't have any fullness after eating or anything. The brand I use is Phillips, the gummy kind. But I think they're all about the same. Good luck! Hope you find relief too!

hello everybody
my name is Roger, this Topic is 100% real and it hits home with me.
I've been studying About natural herbs and I've been experimenting with natural herbs for years.
I go to a chiropractor here in Denver Colorado that has been incredibly healing for me.
I'm not trying to promote chiropractic care. I have however seen some incredible healing in my life, physically mentally and spiritually.
I get up in an alcoholic family, there were many good and bad things.
This is not a poor me production.
What I've learned is there are triggers that trigger other triggers, which in turn creates systemic or chronic fear.
which also creates anxiety.
These things combined create a perfect storm of not so good things.
I came across this site and discussion and I felt at home.
I want to say to all of you, breathing, water and walking will help to create a healthy, peaceful existence.
I must add my faith in God and Jesus is the structure that helps ( me) get through times, when I think I'm going to die from not breathing or stress or fear.
So I say thank you God in Jesus name.

Had very similar problem(s). Discovered simethicone stops chronic burping, which is not the same as belching no matter what you may read elsewhere. Burping is when your lungs expel excessive air, one bubble at a time. Most common cause is from inhaling too much air too quickly. Note that fearful stress is often responsible for excessive inhalation even if you don't notice it. Belching is when your gastric system needs to rid itself of gas. Simethicone deals with both burping and belching (to a point). It is sold over the counter anywhere under many brand names as well as generic and it is safe enough that hospitals give small doses of it to babies with cholic. Personally, I stopped taking Nexium and all those other heavy-duty acid reducers because I suspect they may break as much as they fix. Simethicone generic worked for me.

I will recommend 100% aloe vera drink, i bought FRUIT OF THE EARTH brand. I Been also burping alot after eating or drinking anything. I personally have noticed that it seems the burping is not near as hard as in seems like it wouldn't come up very easy. Remember sitting up to let whatever you swollowed a chance to digest or atleast till the burping is gone. The vomitting I am not sure of. But in all seriousness I DO NOT RECOMMEND PRESCRIBED DRUGS. Many people especially from more "ancient times" used home remedies to take care of issues.
